do your pre teens use Discord?

my nearly 12 year old wants to use this as a platform to speak to friends while playing minecraft. several friends have it. age recommendation seems to have been updated from 13 to 17. she says she cant speak to anyone but her friends because she doesnt have a server. im trying to work out the risks, does anyone know?

DS is 11 and uses it, but only to chat to his cousins whilst playing Minecraft. As far as I know he can only talk to them. I use it for Pokémon chat but that’s just via txt no voice chat.

My pre teen (aged nearly 11) doesn't but my 13.5 year old does occasionally and my 15 year old uses it quite a lot. My 15 year-old claims it helps him with his revision but from what I can see the chat on the revision group seems to be mostly chatting about music etc.
