Preteens

Most young people/teenagers seem to take off their shoes without untying the bow. Do you see that as well and why do they do that?

I'm a 28 year old mother of 2 and I do this. It's sheer laziness Grin

I've always left the bow tied and I'm 36... it's just too much faff to untie and retie shoes when you could just slip them on and off.

laziness

tbf I've adopted this during lockdown too - eventually you can find the sweet spot where your trainers are lose enough to put back on like this but not too loose that they fall off.

I'm middle aged and do this, it's just benign laziness.

Both of my DC do this. It's just laziness. Although it never occurred to me to do when I was younger and wore trainers a lot.

My 13 and 10 year olds do this, I'm always putting them away from the sprawling positions on the hall floor and untying them! 😬

It's easier I am 48. Low standards.

My mother used to clout me for doing this. It's laziness, pure and simple Grin

I still do it.

Me too, saves bending over for as long, useful when you are older and stiffer

63 and still doing that. It would be silly not to.

I remember my friends and I did that 30 years ago. One of my friends mum’s used to untie them all and we’d all be annoyed at having to tie our laces again when it was time to go home! I have grown out of it now!

I remember kicking off at DDad when he untied my laces that had been tied for the better part of a year. He's still really interfering Grin

I do it too, it means you can kick them off inside the door without putting down stuff you are carrying, we have a really narrow hall so when we've all been out together we want to get shoes off and move on quickly. We'd be queueing to get in the door if we all stopped to undo our laces. I do undo and redo them when I put them back on.

Replace all the laces with elastic of the right gauge and colour, then you can slip the shoes off and on easily Easter Wink No tying or untying necessary ....

I do it - I’m 45

I’ve found that perfect spot where they’re loose enough to slip on and off, but not so loose they fall off.

Woe betide anyone who undoes them Grin
