My dd is 11 and started her periods about 10 months ago, but until recently they were very irregular and light, quite normal I believe.
She is coming on more than once per month sometimes fortnightly, or after 3 weeks.
The pain is making her cry and she is physically sick, goes white and sweats. Her vision has been affected over the past few days, has headaches and feels light headed.
It has started interfering with life, the pain itself makes her cry and today she asked me if it was normal to see lumps.
I'm not sure whether to make an appointment with our gp nurse, or gp or if anybody else has experience of this in pre teens.
I had it myself at this age but I looked up the tablets the doctor prescribed for me and I would not be happy for dd to take them.
They were called ponstan Forte and were bloody massive.

hello, yes. I had to wait until friday as female gp wasn't in until then.
DD doesn't want to go and is really embarrassed, but i'm working on it. She will go, but i'd rather her not be worried about it.
It seems like its the first 24 hours that are the worst, but she has only just gone from being very scanty to heavy, so I'm still not sure if it will get even worse than it is now.
I remember being in such pain and it being front, back, and right down my thighs.

I had mefanamic acid from 10-13, then went on combined pill.

Its one of those things where you may come across as worrying unnecessarily iykwim. so just wanted to make sure i wouldn't be wasting gps time, or that it would be better to wait.
Today I have had to alternate paracetamol and nurofen as the paracetamol wasn't lasting the full 4 hours.
It made me realise that enough is enough.
As a teen my periods were very heavy and irregular.
I usually had more than one a month and was in lots of pain/would faint. I also developed anaemia.
I went to the Dr at 14 and was put on the mini pill which did sort the problem.
The painful periods returned when I was off it at about 19 and I was given mefanamic and transexamic acid (sp?!) to help. Again this reduced the heaviness but not really the pain.
I was diagnosed with PCOS but if I'm honest I'm not sure how connected it all is.
Make an appointment. I feel for your daughter, it's horrible and really wipes you out.
