Do pregnancy symptoms go as soon as you give birth?

Currently 37weeks and restless leg syndrome is very much getting on my nerves!! Since pregnancy, my sense of smell has changed, i have pica, I've gone off caffeine (was extremely addicted prior to this!), certain smells I used to love make me vomit, smells I used to hate are now delicious to me etc etc. FTM and just wondering whether all this goes post birth?! Thank you

Yes mine went immediately. I had masses of rib pain from 25 weeks and as soon as I'd given birth it was gone.

Yes they go, including frequent urination etc.

Other symptoms pop up in their place, like not feeling an urge to wee, sweating, and painful joints. What a joy!

Most symptoms went away immediately. My nausea and vomiting went as soon as I'd given birth. Which was great after 9 months of all day sickness.
I craved food and a cup of tea as soon as I'd given birth which I hadn't for 9 months.
Some smells still make me feel nauseas now but I do wonder if there's a psychological element to that.

The smell thing never really went for me. It took me a while to start liking coffee again (I thought it would be straight away!) but I did get there 😅 But symptoms like heartburn literally disappeared the moment the baby was born.

After my last birth I had to have a tear repaired and I think because I had a block they aggravated the PGP by septic my pelvis too much, which took a week or so to go and was worse then ever. After first baby I had no issues with it after birth.

Everything else went straight away and I am hopeful it’s third time lucky next week that I will be heartburn free again.

I used to love coffee but since being pregnant and having baby I now hate it, even the smell makes me gag!!!

PGP took about 6 months to go away after I gave birth to my second, and about 3 weeks after my third

Heartburn disappeared immediately after giving birth.

All mine went within (from memory) about 24 hours.
Yes to the poster asking about PGP- mine was gone the instant that my little one was out (and the relief was immense!)

Most go immediately for most people, including the side effects you've mentioned.

Some, like pelvic girdle pain, can take several weeks to disappear completely, but are usually starting to diminish from when the baby is born.

Good luck!

Nausea went pretty quickly, I developed an aversion to having foreign objects in my mouth (struggled to brush my teeth, had to spit chewing gum out sometimes immediately after putting it in). Even now, nearly 5 years on it still happens 😵‍💫 I also still have my strong pregnancy sense of smell.

Not what you want to hear but I still get restless leg. However, if I get out for a long walk or run most days it keeps it at bay. If I’ve had a lazy few days with little exercise it gets pretty annoying again at bedtime.
Other than that, your body looking like it’s melted and the piles it’s all great 😁
