Maternity legging recommendations

So I'm 16 weeks and been living in gym leggings anyway, but it's now getting to the point where they either fall down, or my very sturdy high waist Gymshark ones that suck everything in are feeling too restrictive. So I need to buy a couple of pairs of maternity leggings. Looking for recommendations as I don't want to order lots of leggings and go through the hassle of returning etc!

I want black, non see through, seamless and quite structured/sturdy leggings, so not the shitty thin ones you get for a fiver from most shops that are more like tights. Also must be over bump. Stretchy but flattering and not jeggings.

Any recommendations? So far I'm considering:

ASOS and miss guided have done me fine. ASOS material is a bit nicer.

I love H&M but I think they have seams. If you’re looking for replacement fitness leggings I strongly recommend H&M ones - I just got a pair and I love them so much - so comfy and stay up brilliantly.

Love leggings. Still wearing them now

Oh following! I ordered a pair from Amazon and they're... fine. But they're not at all like my usual leggings which are really sturdy. I don't think they'll last long.

Bonus if anyone knows sturdy maternity leggings with pockets.

Also interested in this thread.

I usually buy M & s ones but when I looked at their mat ones all the reviews said they were see-through?

Are love leggings true to size?

Love leggings are great and thick but I wish I'd got the size up as they shrunk a little in wash

Another vote for H&M

Love leggings, I’ve never been a leggings person but I adore love leggings maternity ones. Soo thick and comfortable.

Avoid boohoo, baggy, thin and totally see through

I bought Love Leggings after a recommendation on here, and I am glad I did! Thick and comfortable, not at all see through. Been wearing them since about 12 weeks, currently 25 weeks, and they still feel comfy.

I bought love leggings (pre pregnancy) and hated them so much. Instead of one wide waist band they have a thin band at the top that twisted itself up in the washing machine. Couldn't fix it. Never bought them again.

Seraphine are really good - and I think they have a sale now

Have you tried any of their other maternity clothes?

Love leggings are amazing. So thick and the same couple of pairs have lasted me from 10 weeks to now 39 weeks and still super comfy! Not had any issues with waist band turning on itself etc.

Love leggings they are brill. Elastic has twisted in waist band but doesn't affect them. They're not seamless though if that's what you're looking for

I got me some off Amazon Prime called Sinophant high waisted leggings £10.99 they are buttery soft, really comfy, seamless and high waisted like maternity leggings and not see through either!
I was a size 8 at start of pregnancy when I ordered them and I'm on the verge of going up to a size 14 now and they still fit me lovely I ordered a size S-L which is an 8-12 if I remember. I would recommend these x

Another vote for love leggings. They are thick though so you might find a different pair are better towards the summer. I also have a pair from h&m which aren't as thick. If you join the h&m club, you get free delivery. They are good for basics too like the nursing vests and maternity vests.

A PP asked about seraphine clothes - I've got some nice stuff from there but I wouldn't pair full price. I've found the quality hit and miss. I did invest in a coat this time which has been great. I got the thinner one so that I can layer when the baby is here and I'm using a carrier.

I've also found dresses to be great this time towards the end. Either shorter ones over leggings or maxi dresses. I've got some from JoJo which are good and can be used for nursing after birth. Appreciate you didn't ask this, but thought it might be useful to some people. Maternity clothes are a minefield. Even out of a pandemic, there isn't anything you can actually look at in the shops!

My Love Leggings ones probably most closely match what you're describing. They are thick, not see through and have good bump coverage. My usual size fit perfectly up to about 22-24 weeks. Now I need the next size up to cover my bump (but this was baggy at the top until about 25-26 weeks). As another poster said the band at the top is a bit thin so can dig in a little. Not that bad though once have the right size and I still wear mine loads as they have good coverage. Also they recommend long for over 5ft10 I think but I am 5ft8 ish and need long to cover my ankles. The regular ones leave a gap between my socks and the leggings which is chilly (and looks ridiculous!)

If I'm not going out though I live in my seraphine ones. They are a little bit thin, they give me camel toe, they have a couple of bobbles on them (after endless washing). But they are 100% the absolute comfiest thing I own right now and that is rapidly becoming my no1 priority in life. They are sooo stretchy that they've fit perfectly from 20 wks to 30 wks and will carry on growing with me. The band is wide, stretchy and soft without rolling over and reaches all the way to the top of my bump. The bamboo material is warm and breathable and DH sits stroking me because it's so soft. And miracle of miracles they are actually long enough. I only wear them outside under a long dress or coat though (not exactly a problem at the moment). These are the bamboo ones - the other ones they sell are very comfy but are actually just maternity footless tights and I don't think are worth the money.

Great recommendations thanks everyone! Looks like Love Leggings are the most popular so I'll order a pair or two today.

@ForeverHomeSearcher yeah I will definitely be buying a few pretty and versatile dresses for later pregnancy and nursing. I'm due in July so will need some floaty summer stuff! At the moment I'm pretty much living in baggy jumpers and leggings for the winter, but I'm looking forward to the seasons changing so I can get a few spring/summer outfits and also jeans. Determined not to waste too much money at the same time! Have heard great things about h&m jeans and maternity wear in general.

@Luckyelephant1 Sorry to go against the flow but I ordered Love Leggings maternity leggings based on recommendations from Mumsnet and returned them straight away. I loved their 7/8 non-maternity gym/yoga legginings though and have kept those for after the pregnancy. Grin I am also used to my gym leggings and wearing high-waisted leggings, that are good quality, squat-proof and where you feel "supported" but not restricted in any way.

I think leggings are such a personal taste. I'm sorry to report that, in my experience, Love Leggings ones are nothing like what you describe you are after. Yes, they are super soft and comfortable. The fabric is thick but more similar to sweatpant fabric with fleecey lining on the inside. But they are most definitely not "structured", will mark every single tiny bump on your skin and don't offer any support whatsoever. They'd be amazing for lounging on the sofa or sleeping in on a very cold night but that's not what i was after. Also, I'm guessing you're probably a good few weeks away from your bump being generous enough to fill the Love Leggings ones.

To be honest, I've pretty much given up on maternity leggings and have decided instead to just get high-waist leggings in a bigger size that will presumably see e through the postpartum months as well. Many people swear by Lululemon Aligns to take them through the pregnancy and see to fit the bump amazingly well. Apparently they are super comfortable and stretch well over the bump. I didn't want to spend on Lululemon so I've gone with my favourite dupes that you can get from Amazon. I'm currently 26 weeks and very comfortable wearing these ones: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B083JRHBYF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?psc=1&ie=UTF8&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 Black ones seem to be out of stock currently though. I got them at 14 weeks one size bigger than my normal size and I still have room to grow. They're brilliant for the bump as there is a wide waist panel which I find supportive but not restrictive and there is no elastic at the top. I've been using my pre-pregnancy leggings from the same brand until now and only now started feeling like I need extra space. My other recommendation are these leggings: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0813G9HK3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?psc=1&ie=UTF8&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 I've just ordered a bigger size to serve as "maternity" leggings. Hope it helps! Good luck with the search Smile
