Potty training

Lots of accidents at nursery

Just after a bit of advice. We started potty training DS (2yo 3mo) a month ago and he took to it really well. He's basically accident free at home expect for maybe one every other week. Does great when we're out and about, can hold it a while and knows to ask when he needs the potty. MIL has him one day a week, and also accident free with her.

But at nursery he's having a couple accidents almost every day! They seem unphased by it, saying he's doing well, etc but I don't get it and don't want him going backwards. I assume it's just that he's too distracted with everything going on at nursery? Do I just need to ask them to prompt him more?

Strike though fail... but you get the gist!

Actually we did similar with a toy - after a full week of being dry every day we bought him a new paw patrol toy (he is completely obsessed) to say well done. And he has been dry every since!

That's a idea @YouDoIDo might try a treat at the end of the day on dry days

Had a feeling that may be the case @ineedsleepineedsleep ... Just so frustrating when I know he can do it! Also bored of the amount of laundry I have to do with multiple accidents a day during the week

That sounds Completely normal he will be way more distracted with all the fun things and friends to play with that he probably just doesn't realise until its too late. You could ask the nursery to check now and again if he need to go but they obviously can't ask like you can at home as they have alot more children to watch. What if you give him a treat when he has a good/really good dry day and he may use that as an incentive.

Honestly I think that's completely normal. My DS was still having accidents at nursery 4 months after we started toilet training and nursery were also very relaxed about it. At one point he definitely seemed to have gone backwards as he had 2-3 accidents in one day several times a week - but we just kept encouraging him to go when he needed to (as did they!) and now he hasn't had an accident in weeks. I think the consensus is usually to not make a big deal of it and gently encourage and they will get there.

It is annoying though when you know they are capable but just refuse to go because they are busy playing!
