Potty training

How do I get him to tell me he needs to go

So we are potty training obviously, early days yet but he is going in the potty really proud of himself. At home naked he'll do the wee dance and will sit on the potty if directed and will go otherwise he'll hold on and on and on. If I leave the room he'll take himself to the potty and go and even done this for poos. Will point blankly not poo if I'm in the room even if he has a nappy on hence why I started potty training because he is clearly aware and poops the minute I leave the room.

My problem is how to progress from here, how do I get him to communicate he wants the potty? He isn't really talking much, mama, daddy, og (dog) no, ake (cake) How long do I leave him naked for? I haven't taken him out without nappy on because he won't sit on a toilet even with instert seat. Any suggestions or tips welcome.

A lot of toddlers want to be private. Try putting the potty behind the sofa. Show him where it is. You are a long way off before he will tell you he needs to go. Help him for now. Have a word for poo and use it every time plus lots of excitement and praise

I know this wasn't the question, but try putting the potty in a tent? That way he has his privacy while he is learning how to communicate he needs to go?

It’s going to be difficult if he can’t speak to be honest. Maybe try reaching him the words...
