Do i wait till 2yrs 9 months (or older?) after baby has been here for 2 months or do i try and do this now? Have given DC1 the opportunity to go on the potty every now and then and every time he does he produces something but never tells me he needs to go. I feel if i pushed it he would probably manage it but i dont want a battle and i dont want it to take months when if i wait it may only take days or weeks. I feel he is on the young side but I am terrible with listening to what other mums are doing and many seem to be starting around now but being 6 months pregnant I don't want a battle but is it going to be a nightmare trying to do it when there is a baby around? Just need some sensible people to tell me what to do rather than mums trying to prove they have their sh&t together - excuse the pun Wink x

My little boy is 2 years 2 months and I am due a new baby in a few weeks. Around 2 months ago he became very i retested in the potty, kept asking for it and did wees in it. I decided to put it away at stick with nappies for a while longer as even though he is interested I can’t see it being completely successful for a boy so young. I will get it back out again in a few months once hinges have settled down I think. Good luck OP!

I'd normally always say leave it BUT it does sound like you are having some success. I know others are anti them but I'd go with pull ups and regularly put him on or ask him if he wanted to. Potty training without any accidents. Once reliably dry or asking to go then move to pants. A lot of parents I know whose children were reliably trained regressed when new baby arrive just to prewarn you. I waited until my son was nearer 3 and dd was here and was easy and hassle free...

Read 'Oh Crap' and see what you think then.

I did it with a cluster feeding 6 week old - it wasn't the most fun week but it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting from the horror stories you hear. I probably would've done it before DS arrived given the choice but DD was young so it hadn't crossed my mind until she point blank refused nappies any more.

It doesn't have to take months. If you've got a week free at any point, I'd seriously consider doing it then.
