I attempted potty training using the 'oh crap' method but by the end of day 1 I decided that maybe ds wasn't as ready as I thought he was. He's 22mths and often points at his nappy to indicate that he's done/doing a per so I thought I'd give training a go. The problem is that he was holding on to his pee rather than doing it in the potty. He drinks a lot of water, and clearly needed to go but there was no way he was letting it out until he got a nappy on. At one point he was sitting on the potty with his hands in a bowl of warm water as I thought this would make him let go, but no, he was relaxed and playing with the water but no per. Anyway, I've decided to shelve it for a bit, but do you think I should put the potty away out of sight until the next time, or just leave it sitting about so he's very familiar with it. I'm concerned it will become a drinking well for his teddys and that he won't view it in the purpose it's intended for if I leave it out, but on the other hand, it could make the transition easier if it's always about and is less of a new thing. I'd appreciate your thoughts.
