Four year old leaving his room each night and wetting the superking - ideas

So DS1 is potty trained in the day but in night time pull up at night. He goes to bed in his own bed at 8pm, we make sure he has a wee before bed. Some time in the night most nights he wakes up, wanders into the master suite with superking (loads of fucking bedding to wash) and then obviously has a second massive pee in his night nappy which turns into a big wet patch in the massive bed.

We are about to go on holiday for a week so I am particularly pissed off this morning as all the bedding was totally washed yesterday and Ive had to strip off the sheet, the mattress protector and the waterproof cover to wash again this morning.

I'm trying to work out how to tackle this and have thought of the flooring possibilities;

1. limit his fluid intake in the evening. He tends to drink the bath water even though I tell him again and again not to as it's full of soap. So I'm thinking even if I actively limit his fluids he will basically drink the bath
   
   
2. put a toddler stairgate on his door so he can't easily wander out his room. I know you can get those tall ones but I've never really looked at them or if their appropriate for 4 year olds.
   
   
3. put an inside lock on the master bedroom. DP is in there on his own with an ensuite bathroom and we were talking about getting a lock on the door anyway. Bit worried this might lead to 4 year old walking aimlessly on the landing, my sleep is already hugely disrupted by the baby waking in the night so do i want the 4 year old crying and trying to get into bed with me? 😩
   
   Any ideas would be very welcome.

Could he be taken to the toilet when he comes into the bedroom?

I use pampers pull ups. Mine takes big weed during the night and they hold the wee in, maybe try those?

I know it's a contentious idea, but I lifted my son at about 10.30 for a wee and walked him to the toilet. Worked for us.

Your DP needs to make sure he goes to the loo when he comes into the bedroom. Apart from anything else, how do you know that he isn't waking because he needs to wee but is too tired and groggy to realise?

Is he very thirsty? Could he be diabetic?
I also recommend pampers & just putting him back in his bed, and making sure it has a waterproof mattress cover - your mattress will go revolting if it carries on
I think would be unkind to lock him out though. Have you thought about star charts/ money jar etc where he gets a reward for, say, going to the bathroom before coming into your bed? It has to be quite instant still at 4 I think but something to aim for might help, eg if you wake up and there is no wet patch, you get (x)

Taking him to the toilet in the middle of the night is a good way to make sure bed is not wrecked - agree he could be waking up because he needs to go

The bed isn't wrecked as we have three layers on it but the washing machine might get wrecked at this rate.

I can definitely lift him at 10.30pm to sit him on the toilet again. I'm not keen on doing this at 5am as everyone is in that groggy sleep that allows you to go back to sleep. If we start turning on lights and taking off nappies then I'll be wide awake and at that point I just haven't had enough sleep due to breast feeding throughout the night.

Do I need think he is diabetic? Not really no. He shows no signs of it outside of drinking bathwater for fun (and swimming pool water if he gets the chance). But am I absolutely sure? No.

He is in Huggies but Ive bought a load of them 😬 He has leaked in DryNites but I haven't made an effort to notice if the pampers are much better overall.
