Potty training

Stupid time to train?

My DD, 2.3, has been showing signs of readiness for a while - she can pull pants up and down, regularly divests herself of her nappy and is a big fan of sitting on the potty. Doesn't normally do anything, but she did have a week where she did a number of wees and a poo on the potty. If she does go nappy free for a bit she can normally go for a couple of hours without an accident - although we have had a few poo in the pants/wee on the floor incidents. I was thinking of going cold turkey on the nappies this week and doing it properly as I have the week off work, but I am aware 1) it's just before Christmas and the week after next we will have a LOT of travelling around 2) it's not exactly lovely and warm in terms of washing pants etc. We have mostly wooden floors so I'm not too bothered about the cleaning up aspect.

But I think I need to do it while I have a reasonable period of time off (usually I work four days a week, as does my husband) and I don't know when that will next be the case. I also don't want to miss the window when she appears to be keen.

Also, what are anyone's thoughts about nappies for naps? DD will often sleep in her pram for 2 or more hours... and that does tend to be the time when she is giving me full wet nappies as opposed to when she's busy doing things.

I would give it a go if I were you Smile DS was the same at that age but I put it off as it was winter and I had a young dd, but then he hit a defiant stage and it took another 9 months to get him out of nappies Hmm

For naps, I put a waterproof pad underneath. But did use pull ups in the early days if it was likely to be a long nap.
