Potty training

DS seems to forget he's got pants on and not a nappy...

DS is 2.10 and we've been potty training for a couple of weeks. he's doing really well... mostly...
when at home we're just letting him run round with no pants on and he remembers to go on potty or toilet without fail. As soon as he's in trousers he seems to forget and we've had loads of accidents. I think he still thinks he's got a nappy on as he'll say his nappy needs changing when he's done something in his pants.
DP thinks we should keep him in trousers all the time at home so that he doesn't get used to being bare bottomed and learns that he's got pants and trousers on. II'm tempted to go on as we are, mainly because it saves me washing!!!
Anyone with any experience of this on here? wold be good to hear how things worked out for you in this situation. Really don't want to be rinsing any more soggy shits out of pants than i absolutely have to...
its like going out with a poo timebomb in public places...

Definately keep him dressed. I know it's hard, but he needs to learn the difference between nappies and clothes. I had a similar problem with ds2, the only accidents he had seemed to be when he needed a poo. Luckily it only happened a couple of times. Can you see the signs when he needs to go? My ds liked to crouch in a corner, so I could tell when he was starting to need to go.

i'm with your dp

he's not really 'trained' until he can tell he needs to go before wetting or pooing in his pants
