Potty training

Potty trained, but not in nursery - help!

So, DS has been toilet trained for a month or so now. The first two weeks we had accidents and stuff, but nothing for the last couple of weeks.
However, he goes to nursery 2 days a week, and there's the problem - he has accidents there. Three, today.
I asked the staff and they told me he doesn't say when he needs to go, but they take him regularly. (Ironically, I picked him up tonight and put him in the car, he announced he needed a wee, I took him back in despite being sceptical (this followed a tantrum because he didn't want to leave nursery) but he did do a big wee.)
What do I do? I don't really want to put him in training pants - I know some children who are still in them starting school! - and I can't see going back to nappies working, because he's really proud of his pants.

Do I stick it out or is there anything I can do? (Preferably something which doesn't involve hassling nursery staff and questioning their routines!! I do understand how busy they are.)

took ds a while to stop having accidents in nursery, purely because he was too engrossed in playing to remember to go

its early days still, I would forget training pants and just keep putting lots of changes of clothes in bag and let them deal with it, they should be used to it - and just as keen as you to resolve it as they have to clean up afterwards!

hopefully the nursery isnt raising it as a big issue yet?

No, they tell me how many accidents he's had but not in a stroppy way or a concerned way.

I put his clothes on to wash tonight and I think it might not be as bad as it seems. Couldn't have had a 'full' wee accident as they hadn't changed his trousers (so probably made it to the loo); and there were two poo pants but it might not be a full poo either - might be not-quite-getting-there. Er, 'touching cloth', I believe the term is (not like I'll ever use it in everyday life!). Grin

Well when we put kids on potties if there pants aren't down enough they can wee on the back, and also we wipe all are childrens bottoms whether they are trained or training, ever so often a kid slips through and we miss one, so the children get a poo stain on there pants, and we change them.

However we inform parents with all that happens, what did the nursery say happened?

They did say 'two poo accidents and one wee accident', but I didn't ask for the details, whether he had actually pooed in his pants, or just sort of started to!
They also said he doesn't tell them when he wants to do a poo, but that might be part of a bigger problem - we have lots of 'false alarm' trips to the potty/loo when he says he needs a wee, nothing happens, and it's clear that basically he needs a poo but can't 'let go' if that makes sense. And with lots of children around and lots to do, he might not do the whole false alarm thing, just wait and then an accident?
I'm overanalyzing now! Shall I give it another couple of weeks, with pants and clothes changes, and see how things go?

p.s. cookielove, glad the professionals sometimes miss. I did, when I took him to the loo in nursery, and he weed on the back of his pants! Oops!

Yes def keep at it, as someone else said we nursery nurses are use to cleaning up wee. I would prob for more information, if a child does what i mentioned earlier, or wees a bit before getting to the toliet, or has a full accident, i inform the parent, i don't just say wee or poo, i think it is important to clarify.

I would ask the nursery to take him more often he only needs to sit on it for a few minutes each time, and hopefully he will improve.

Thanks cookie, this is all really helpful.

I'll ask the staff tomorrow, or see how it goes anyway. It's probably lots of playing and other children to distract etc...
