I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand what this is and how to navigate the situation we have found ourselves in? Yesterday I got a call from local area MASH team. I had no idea who or what this is? The lady when on to tell me it was child services and I was being 'flagged' as a safeguarding concern had been raised about my eldest child after a school staff member saw a bruise on his arm and asked him about it. He said mommy did it. After further questioning he told the staff member he is shouted at all day long and lives in fear. None of this is true. He is a very bright boy, very well read but very much 10yrs old and testing boundaries. I explained to the lady that he had a bruise due to walking out into ongoing traffic and me yanking him back and that yes he has been shouted at several times as a last resort this week for repeatedly hitting his siblings, sneaking down to watch tv after bedtime and also messing with the kettle. The MASH lady was incredibly dismissive but then said she was closing the case and I should speak to school. I went in to speak to school who went on to tell me my other 2 children had also been 'interviewed' but there was no other concerns and if I gave consent they could access 'Early help' to support my eldest with his anxiety. I said I would come back to them after the weekend. Does anyone have any clue what I have found myself in? My eldest has a bruise- which I obviously felt terrible about but sooner that than him being run over and on occasion he gets told off -now I find myself being referred to child services? I literally don't know what to do?
