Dad posting here - I have a DS 6 with my ex wife, we both share parenting him although she is the main parent, i pay monthly maintenance and have him overnight at least 2-3 days a week on either a wkd or weekday depending on when my work shifts are, so this week I went to collect him from school at 3:15pm as pre arranged with his mother, as I waited to collect him his mother (who works at the school as a TA) came out and said that he doesn’t want to come with me today, he then ran out and gave me a hug at which point she said to him to tell me he didn’t want to come over which made both me and DS feel uncomfortable and upset, I was shocked and didn’t know what to say as DS always loves coming to mine and seeing his other siblings so I ended up stared blankly into nothing, his mother then proceeded to say “am I thick or something, what don’t I understand about him not wanting to come to mine, are you drunk or on drugs”. This was all in front of other parents, school staff and children, so I felt the only option I had was to walk away as I did not want to distress DS further, this isn’t the first time she has not let me have him when it’s my time and there is no reasoning with her so I was wondering if court is my only option?
