Hi - first time mum to 8mo baby girl. I can see one of her bottom teeth ready to cut I think, she’s also not sleeping well, chewing/sucking her gums, grouchy etc.. she’s gone off her milk too.. anyone with more experience know is this normal/when should I worry?
thank you x

My DS has teethed on and off since he was 5 months (he's now 18 months and has all his first teeth except 2 back molars so we're nearly there!). It has been a nightmare whenever a tooth has come up.

He also used to go off his milk completely and we'd have this awkward thing where he's hungry but it obviously hurt his gums to take his bottle so wouldn't drink anything.

He cut his last one about 3/4 weeks ago, and now that he eats more or less what we do, he completely went off all his food and a drinks for about a week.

I find when he is really struggling, calpol can help get a bit of food and drink in him and makes him a bit happier and more his usual self. It also helps him to sleep better as he would often wake and get upset in the night from teething pain.

Hope your LO feels better soon!

Thanks for your reply @gymgirl11 - nice to know I’m not alone! Feel so sorry for her it must be so painful! Naps are pretty diabolical and she’s waking in the night a bit upset too. Ahh thank you I’ll try to give her some cold fruit i hadn’t thought of that! She’s still eating food but just doesn’t seem interested in her milk. How many teeth to go😆 hope your LO is okay! X

I'm in exactly the same position as you. My 8mo is also cutting her first bottom tooth - dribbling everywhere, a bit clingier than usual, out of a nap routine, trying to put everything in her mouth and went off of her milk for a few days.

Have you tried offering pineapple, melon or strawberries during their meals? I've found that my baby has enjoyed sucking on these and seems to be getting some form of relief.

It does sound like a normal part of the teething process so hang in there! x
