Child lock for cupboards - advice please!

Hi guys,

My DD is 12 months old and is a massive nosey parker and any cupboard is a goal for her as she is now able to adventure solo!

I will be buying child locks for all the cupboards BUT locks that wouldn't leave horrible marks when they’re removed would be great. Is this such a thing? Before anyone jumps on the thread full of criticism I am fully aware that my child’s safety is more important than marked doors and if marked doors will happen then it will happen BUT if I can use locks and be mark free then that would just be a massive bonus!

Can anyone recommend any they’ve had experience with?

Thanks!

We had a gate on the kitchen doorway so she couldn't investigate. Never bought a lock.

We have the ones inside the door operated with a magnet from the outside. Can't see anything from outside.

You could magnetic ones so all the fixings are on the inside and you use the magnet to open from the outside.

Magnetic ones are great. Make sure you don't loose the magnet though 🤦

We also have magnetic ones - pics attached. They are great and you can switch them to unlocked if you need to - our toddler is older now and less curious (!) we just keep the glasses cupboard and "sharps/knives" ones locked now. They haven't makes our doors at all.

Can't you just put the dangerous things in a high cupboard?

I've got 3 DC and did a cupboard swap when dc1 was about 9m for a similar reason.

A....counts.... 7th vote for the magnetic locks. They're so good. We've got the same ones as mommabear1.

The magnetic ones scare the crap out of me because the danger if small children swallow magnets is enormous.

A lot of them are Chinese no-brands on amazon as well, these probably don't meet any safety standard, so be careful.

We have some which screw in so obviously do leave marks, but only on the inside of the doors. You won't be able to see it once the locks are removed and the doors closed.

We also have some which stick on using sticky stuff, which I haven't tried to remove yet, but assume we should be able to get it off using goo gone or something like that when the time comes.
