Nappy changing nursery

Hi just wondering what I can do my son has come home from nursery with really bad nappy rash it’s so bad he can’t walk or sit down properly this is the second time now.
I have rang the nursery and they try to say that he could of had nappy rash before coming in (which he didn’t) they also tried to say he has sensitive skin (which he doesn’t) so I feel like they’re trying to blame me and I’m not sure how I should approach the situation or what I can do?

If anyone has some advice that would be great thanks 😌

I work in a nursery and if I was you, I'd be checking their nappy changing sheet/record first thing in the morning or whenever he is next in nursery to see if they have been recorded correctly, see whether he was wet or soiled and how far apart each nappy change was. I'd also be speaking with the manager or room leader and requesting that he is changed hourly and cream reapplied.

Yes I just meant with wees. If they’re not changing immediately after a poo then it’s inexcusable really and should go without saying

One day of less frequent changes can make a big difference for some kids.

DS2 was very prone to nappy rash, there were a few times when he had a poo and couldn’t be changed right away - usually when I was driving on the motorway - and the skin on his bum would sometimes be so raw it was starting to bleed by the time I was able to change him.
We had that once with just a 20 minute drive from getting in the car (with DS2 in a clean nappy), and getting off the motorway to somewhere safe to stop.

Looney one day does make that level of difference with some kids. I used to mind a little girl who had to be changed within 10 minutes max of a poo otherwise she'd get very sore and it'd take a week to be back to normal. Her body click seemed to be set to her filling her nappy on the way to me in the morning too! I'm sure her mum was telling the truth when she promised that she put her into her car seat in a clean nappy and she always filled it on the drive!

I supply own nappies and wipes. They said he had a poo and I requested for them to check him more and change him more which she said ok... just asking as she tried to turn the blame on me saying I didn’t change him before I came into nursery.

I can’t imagine just one day of less frequent changes would cause this? You can certainly request extra changes but I would be thinking about wipes and nappies (do they use the same as you) and are they changing immediately after a poo?

Do you supply the nappies, wipes and nappy cream? If the nursery use their own then it's possible that your DS is sensitive to whatever brand they're using so you could send your own stuff in and see if that makes a difference. If it's not that, then they must be leaving him in dirty nappies which is neglectful and unacceptable in my view.

(I've had to ask DD's nursery not to use Sudocrem as it makes her skin sore. She's also not good with Huggies wipes for example and would definitely end up with a sore bottom if nursery used those).

I work in a nursery but have had problems with this with my DD when she was younger. Kept coming home with a terrible rash but only while she was in a certain room, soon as she moved she was fine
Can you ask to see their nappy charts, to see how often he's been changed? They should have it documented and signed by the member of staff doing the nappies. I would also speak to the manager, it's sad to say but sometimes staff can get slack with changing. I have caught people putting a clean nappy on without wiping a child first. They may be able to keep an eye and make sure everyone is cleaning the children properly.

If you provide some nappy rash cream, will they apply it after nappy changes?
