Does anyone have any experience of these? I'm officially diagnosed with ADHD and self-diagnosed with autism. I have a really stressful period coming up where I'm going to be really busy, and often over stimulated from being in crowds whilst working as a self employed person, with desperate need for good income but no guarantee of getting it. Sorry, that's really vague so as not to be outing. My thoughts are that they could be really soothing, especially during a period where I have to drive a long way and be away from home for a long weekend for the first time in 3 years.
My questions are: do you get what you pay for, as in is there a clear difference between getting the cheapest one I can find or paying a bit more? Are they actually soothing/calming? How do you decide what weight to go for?

i got an adult one from home bargains it was much cheaper than others
it is a bit too heavy for me but I use it in an emergency when I remember
I have a kids one also from home bargains which was even cheaper that is on my bed. I certainly get more rest and hopefully more sleep with it
They do the job for me iI not need expensive ones cos these work fine
I hope that help you

I got one from oodie at the same time as buying my oodie. It works well, I like it (they do 3 different weights). You want one that's stitched in squares so the weighting beads don't all migrate.

Ah, that's really helpful, thanks both.

I think you need the weight of the blanket to be 6-10% of your body weight. I’m indifferent to my dc’s 4kg one but my 6kg blanket is bliss.

It always feels a bit wrong for a while - too much weight/not enough in some places. But after a bit it is just wonderful.

DS and I have 5kg kuddly ones. I'm 54kg so it's 9% of my weight. I use it on top of my duvet and sleep much better once it's on when the temperature drops.

Both my husband and I are autistic and we share a weighted blanket over our bed and we both absolutely love it. We slept so much worse in the summer when it was too hot for it, we have it back on with just an empty duvet cover for now until it gets colder!

To me, the best way to describe the effect is it's a big giant SHUUUUSHHH when you are under it, it really feels like calm. I wasn't expecting it to be so effective, but it really is.

I absolutely would recommend them. I got it for my husband as a christmas present a couple of years ago, now there are lots of places to get them from.
