Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

No bleeding after MVA - can it be normal?

I had a mmc at around 8 weeks pregnant, and MVA about a week ago. I had bad cramps for about an hour after the procedure and until the pain killers kicked in, no pain since. I also had some moderate bleeding after the procedure which stopped later in the evening. Nothing since except occasional (a few times each day) yellow-brown discharge, mainly when wiping. Don't need to wear a pad. The consultant said there was a tiny bit left behind (might be fluid only), they could not reach and it will come out. Was given 3 tablets of antibiotic as a precaution and that was it. The rest was sent for genetic testing (it's my 5th miscarriage and my 2nd mmc). I have a scan lined up, but I'm really worried something is not right as there is no bleeding at all! I bled quite a bit last time. Has anyone experienced the same?

@Munchies30 @wireless77 I had an MVA in July was so nervous about procedure but it was ok, I was same sore and tender for a few days but didn't bleed at all until almost 2 weeks later, I had complications as tissue was left in and basically went through a miscarriage 2 weeks later to pass it, my MC just finished yesterday, apparently alot of tissue had been left in though which is why it went on so long. I'm sure you will be fine. Just got my first negative test yesterday

@Wireless77 Sorry for your loss. I had no bleeding at all after my MVA (except for immediately after the procedure). I think everyone’s different.
I hope you’re ok xx
@Munchies30 Sorry for your loss. I had the MVA under local and it was fine and recovery quick. The ladies that were in the room with me made me feel so comfortable and talked to me throughout. It was extremely dignified. The procedure itself was little uncomfortable, like period cramps, but more than bearable. Oddly, I didn’t feel when they injected my cervix either.
It was all over very quickly and after around an hour in recovery with a cup of coffee and a biscuit, I was ready to go home. Although emotionally drained I felt physically fine. Hope all goes well xx

I'm so sorry for your loss, @Munchies30. I had it done privately and requested sedation, so I was asleep during the procedure. This was the only choice for me as I think it is very unfair by NHS that women are expected to go through this awake on top of all the emotional pain. Everyone should be given a choice of sedation. I did not want to see nor hear it. I had some very serious cramping right after it was done and when I was woken up, so I think I would have found it a torture. Having read a number of experiences by other people, some seem to find it ok and bearable, some call it traumatic. I did not want to find out to which group I belong to.

Hello, so sorry for your losses ladies. It really is s**t at times.
Our 6th miscarriage has been confirmed this morning (mmc) at 9 weeks. Baby measuring 8 weeks. We think we are going to opt for MVA, we have had 2 surgical d&c before but this will be the first MVA. Im soooo nervous about being awake for it. What was your experience like? Was it really painful?x

@GillyD83, I started having slight cramps and light bleeding last night. It was gone by this morning, but then picked up around lunch time. I passed a few clots and now bleeding proper period like. Took a week after the procedure to get the bleeding. I hope it will be all done in a few days' time. I'm so sorry for your loss and fingers crossed for your next pregnancy!

I had my procedure on Tuesday and have had very little bleeding. The stomach cramps have also pretty much gone now. This is my first miscarriage so no idea what it's supposed to be like xxx
