Aspirin

Hello,
I think I had a second miscarriage yesterday - bleed at 4 weeks for 2 days and now it's stopped but faint positive on test. First one was a mmc at 9 weeks, baby stopped growing at 6ish weeks.
I've been looking into why this happened twice, only been pregnant twice too, and I've read a lot about taking aspirin. Does anyone know anything about this? I desperately want to do it right next time and save the heartache. Has anyone had any experience with taking aspirin before to reduce miscarriage risk? I can't understand why I've had 2 miscarriage in such a short time 😢. I always thought getting pregnant might be the hard part but apparently that comes fairly easy for us but the baby doesn't stay 😢. I'm sooo worried that we will never get a baby now and these thoughts are taking over my life atm. Any help or positive stories are warmly welcomed at this awful time x

I have had one known miscarriage but I have had a positive test before and I was in a bad relationship at the time so I never knew if I was actually pregnant or not but my known one was on the 9th October. The next time we conceive I will definitely get all the advice I can on how to reduce the risk and will do anything I can, hope you are okay xxx

I had two miscarriages - one picked up on scan at 8 weeks (had stopped growing at 6 weeks) which needed D&C and another 'natural' at 6 weeks six months later.

I decided to try low dose aspirin on next pregnancy, having chatted to my GP and I carried to term. Did the same next time and all good again.

We will never know if it was the aspirin that made the difference but I felt like I needed to do something after the two losses. The way I saw it, I had nothing to lose and any risks were very low.

Thank you both for your messages. It's just reassuring to hear other people's stories. After the first miscarriage I was utterly shocked and now getting a positive test and a few days later bleeding, it's left me so sad.
@mrsfeatherbottom what type of aspirin did you take and when did you start taking it? Did you take it the whole month or after you got your BFP? I feel like I need to be doing something different now so I'm just looking into how I can increase my chances next time. I know we can clearly conceive quickly but it doesn't make it any easier when worrying that you'll never have your own baby x

After two miscarriages and struggling to conceive I turned to ivf. I was advised by the consultant to take low dose aspirin which I did, although sadly miscarried at 6 weeks on my first cycle. For round 2 I again was placed on the aspirin till 16 weeks as well as steroids and carried to term. When I try for a sibling for my DC next month I will again take aspirin. I did find some pharmacists unwilling to provide aspirin to a pregnant woman. Best of luck to you.

I think it was 75mg and I took from when I got my BFP until about 16 or 18 weeks, I think. (Sorry it was 11 years ago so I can't remember the details)

GP was happy for me to take it and I just bought it over the counter at the chemist.

I remember so well that feeling so my heart goes out to you. It was the darkest time of my life. Any more questions, just ask.

@PinkLady89x I am in the same situation as you and have started aspirin. 75mg once a day. I buy it over the counter too . I have had 2 miscarriages. One in June 2017 and one in April 2018. I am now 5+1, and don't seem to have an issue getting pregnant. More just staying pregnant. First scan on Friday here, hoping for a rainbow 🌈 . Hope you will get yours soon too x

I've had two mmcs this year and because of my age (39) I begged to see a consultant and have some tests.

They only tested for sticky blood syndrome (negative) but I asked my consultant about low dose aspirin and he said he was happy for me to take it from BFP as there's no evidence it will harm but may help. There's so many things they don't know about miscarriage at the moment and it seems to help some women-he suspects that may be because some women have clotting disorders that haven't been discovered yet so there are no tests available!. So if I get another positive I'll be taking it.

Thank you so much ladies for your replies. It sounds very positive to try aspirin so I'm going to take it this month and see what happens. As I seem to get pregnant very quickly ( one month each time) I'm hoping maybe I will this month and I'll see if things are different.
I wish I hadn't taken the early pregnancy test this time because I would have never known I had the chemical one then. I literally got my period on the right date it's just I tested a few days early and got a bfp! Maybe I'll wait until I'm late in future to save my spirits and also try aspirin. I've also looked into taking Coq10 to improve egg quality - I know I'm only 29 but I'm worried about all possibilities for the miscarriages. I'm now taking that each day too to see if it helps.
