D&C after miscarriage

I was told I was having a miscarriage 2 weeks ago and was bleeding up until Thursday. Went for my scan yesterday to see if it was gone but the pregnancy sack is still there. Even though I have bled for weeks. I am now going to do the surgical procedure to get it removed. I am quite scared for this and wondered if anyone else has had this and how it was and if they were ok?I have never had general anaesthetic so a little worried xx

So sorry for your loss Sarah and the rest of you precious ladies.

I'm having the surgery on Wednesday morning and I'm so scared. Can you tell me if you were sick when you woke up from GA? Am really afraid of being ill like I was after past GA's and having to deal with the sickness and the unbearable emotional pain.

Wish I could just push a button and all of this experience would just disappear, but at the same time I'd chose to go through it all again just to have been so blessed to hold this precious baby in my womb - wish I had spent more time telling them how much I love them when they were alive in me instead of complaining about how sick I've felt from the morning sickness.

When I reach Heaven one day they will be the first on my list to hold and love, that's the only comfort I have today.

Yeh I do wish I had went for this option first time bit never mind. All out of theatre now and bleeding but not too bad. Hopefully won't last long. Doctor said I may pass brown lumps but think they just have to tell you possibilities. Xx

I was the same when I had mine, but in the end it was fine. I woke up, had no more of the horrendous pain and bleeding that I'd been having. I actually wished I'd gone for that option first when I look back. Sorry for what you're going through, it's a horrible time Flowers

Everyone will be different. I bled for around a week the first time and not at all the second time.

Thank you. I don't know why I have got myself so worried about it. I really hope this works as iv tried the natural way and wasted over 2 weeks and I'm still no further forward just bled for that time. I don't want it prolonged as I want to try again. Did you bleed for long afterwards? I'm sorry you have had to go through that twice. Hope your ok now xx

Firstly, I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I've had 2 d&cs for miscarriage and the general anaesthetic is fine. You'll get a drip put into the back of your hand, and then the next thing you know you will be awake and the procedure is over. You'll be slow on your feet and tired for a few days but that's because of the anaesthetic.

After the D&C you will probably feel crampy (a bit like a period) and you might bleed for a few days.

It sounds a lot scarier than it is, but just make sure you take time to rest afterwards.
