My goodness Smile I don't think we've ever had a second thread in week 2!

Anyway, the last thread is full, so let's carry on the chatting here until the new thread on Monday!

I now realise this is not a nice treat because I deserve it, I am actually disrespecting my body by shoving junk in. I deserve to be healthy, to fill my body with nutritious tasty food, not addictive sugar crap. I can love and respect myself by eating well.

Absolutely YoLo this expresses exactly how i feel on this woe.

Have learned my lesson about the impact not eating sufficient quantities of the right kind of veg and shall be mostly looking out for veg from now on. Off for lunch with my mother today, with plaice fillets, leeks au gratin (cooked at the same time as i did yesterday's celeriac go me) and a bag of mixed broccoli, green beans and cabbage.

It's not only M&S who are picking up on LC trends, Looking through the trays of prepared veg yesterday i noticed a 'spicy cauliflower florets' option amongst the potatoes. Was in a rush so didn't check out the carb counts but it set me wondering how they decide what new trends to follow. Would be great to see ever more LC options but i suspect the market is quite limited for producers to 'add value' ie cost to products while keeping them low carb. Very different market to the 'bulk them out with cheap ingredients and make 'em tasty with sugar and artificial stuff' of the HCLF approach.

I'm so glad to have finally wised up about this, thanks in no small part to BIWI, Stuntnun, SayrraT Wombattoo and everyone on here, to have found this thread and all the support and inspiration.

Loving Jiminny's pictures, too.

It's busy this morning!

Style thanks for the wise words, you're absolutely right, an occasional mishap is to be expected and it's important to keep going!

I did succumb to one Pickled Onion Monster Munch last night, I blame DH who had to have a packet in front of me while I was in the midst of carb-crave hell!

Yesterday:
B: creamy tea (less yuck), Greek yoghurt
L: scrambled eggs, fried mushrooms with spring onion, bacon
D: egg curry, yoghurt
S: cocktail sausages, cheese, creamy coffee (too filling to finish it all). And I had two glasses of Robinson's squash! (Sorry Biwi - it was that or lemonade, so went for the low-sugar option)

Today:
Not sure yet, will be out most of the day with family, buffet-type food which I know will be carb-loaded so will see how I fare. I don't really want to explain to everyone why I'm not eating carbs, I don't think they'll get it.

I'm teetotal so at least I don't have to contend with alcohol cravings! I can do fine without bread/rice/pasta, but I'm a sugar addict and love potatoes, so they will be my downfall!

As for veggie food, Ada have you tried the Quorn range? Some of their things are quite low carb, I appreciate that they're low fat but you can always up the fat content with butter/oil/cream etc. Just to see if you can reduce the dairy load for the next week or so.

Jiminny - WOW, you look great - hope you had a fab night!

Thanks.
My meals are ok I think, but too much dairy.
B- I have become intolerant to eggs on their own so have to add cheese, so having cream cheese pancakes, creamy coffee
L- salad, every day. With olive oil dressing, olives, seeds, hard boiled egg and either avocado or feta (1/4 pack)
D- something like fried tofu or veggie sausages (processed but fairly low carb) with fried mushrooms, boiled asparagus, green beans, spinach, cauliflower etc with butter. Trying not to have cheese at dinner time.
D- Greek yoghurt with cream
Drinks - one tea with splash of milk, 3l water

I have allowed myself nuts and seeds as am vegetarian but I will remove those for a week and see what happens. I will also weigh my yoghurt and limit it to 100g and one spoon of cream as I at a whole litre in 5 days this week.
You know I think I can see where I have gone wrong. As well as the fact that it's only 5 days back on it after carbing.

Can you reassure me thoug that if I lost actual fat I won't have gained it back again? I know it really but I want to hold on to it. The scales were moving so nicely in the right direction and I hate to think it was water weight. Also don't see how it can be as I'm drinking oceans.

I'm the same regarding wiggle room ilove. That is why I'm not weighing myself regularly. In the past, on any 'diet', as soon as I see a loss on the scales I start to fart about testing what I can 'get away with' before I start to put weight on. It has never ended well. It's far better for me to see and feel the physical benefits.

Morning!

Here you are! I've been up since 5 Shock having completely conked out really early last night. No bed time cuppa and wearing earplugs meant I slept like a log Grin.

StuntNun I'm very much the same and even more so on BC these last few days - a small creamy coffee and some water for breakfast is enough for me. Please don't be mad at me BIWI. I've been having two meals and no snacks. At the start of BC when I was eating breakfast it meant I was eating my lunch and dinner much, much later, say, 1.30 and 8.30. This is OK short term but not really doable longterm for me. I'd much prefer lunch at 12ish then dinner at 7ish.

Ah, that's good Sayrra, I'm not reading on, because I didn't want to get into the mindset of 'only two weeks till I can eat xx', but I guess it's safe for me to consider boot camp light now. I might well drop the breakfast then, though I'm not planning to increase my carbs yet unless instructed to do so - have too much weight to lose, and don't want to get into carb creep at this stage.

Whit woo Jimminy, looking good. Hope you enjoyed your date night.

Adalind if the scales are derailing you, keep off. Lots of people on here are using items of clothing rather than numbers to plot their losses. If you are following the rules then stuff will be happening regardless of what is says on the scales. KOKO.

We've got friends over later for a BBQ so I have bought out all the LC treats I can think of.

B: bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms in oodles of butter
L: while the others snack on crisps and dips I have, in no particular order, chorizo crisps, crackling crisps, ham and cheese roll ups from M&S, home made guacamole and olives - do you think that's enough?
D: BBQ - I have beef and pork kebabs, LC sausages, little steaks, halloumi, tomato and mozzerella salad, courgette salad, normal salad, and burgers, buns and jacket potatos for my carby fellow diners. There will be wine though, so I'm not being a total Angel.

The rules only say breakfast for the first two weeks to make sure that you get into the habit of eating meals, not snacking etc.

In bclite (which you can do after Monday) you can skip breakfast if you are not hungry. I rarely eat breakfast, just a creamy coffee unless I wake up hungry.

Report
ilovecherries · 03/06/2017 08:11

If I eat breakfast then I'm likely to feel hungrier through the day and more likely to snack between meals. If I fast in the morning then I'm much more likely to get through the rest of the day with only two meals and no snacks

I've been wondering about this - I'm reading Breakfast is a Dangerous Meal at the moment, and it's fascinating. In the past, I've always been starving for breakfast, and the first week of boot camp I was up and into the 3 egg omelettes every morning. However, I've become increasingly disinterested in it over the last week - there was only one day where I actually wanted/enjoyed it, and that was after being up nearly all the previous night with a sick dog.

I'm still making myself eat something, but it's dropped to a very small amount, mainly because I promised myself that I only had only one rule for 10 weeks - follow the sodding rules! I'm a terrible rule breaker (in lots of areas, not just food), and I'm always looking for wiggle room, or a different/better/dafter way of doing something. I decided if I said no special snowflake behaviour, and did what I was bloody told for a change, then I had some hope of success. It's easier to have one rule which says 'follow the rules', than to have multiple personal rules of eat this/don't eat that. That would lead me to a place where I'd convinced myself within the first day that a loaf of sourdough was health food so long as it had butter and avocado on it. (BTDT!)

NSV - is that a new one then? Love it!

Had to eat one flapjack type thing yesterday, home made by Doris. Would have been rude not to.... but I only had the one (normally I would have kept going)! And didn't crave another after. I'm hoping it was minimised by being in the middle of the day (I always feel it's worse to go off piste first thing or just before bed I don't know why) and surrounded by lots of water drinking and very low carb eating otherwise.

Having my hair done today and will request none of their little hairdresser biscuits are put on the saucer with my coffee so that I'm not tempted! I remember the days when my DDs found it a treat when i brought home a couple of little wrapped hairdresser biscuits for them, after a visit to the salon. They have more demanding requirements for treats these days!

Oliversmum It's so frustrating when they whack a load of carbs in things that they haven't mentioned in the menu. Sounds like you did what you could though, a strict day today and loads of water and you should be back on track.
I've still got another pound to get back to Monday's weight, so sign of AF yet, so could just be general bloat not monthly bloat.
B:Oppsie roll, butter and marmite
L: Chicken salad
S: Curry, tricky one, thinking of just going for a chicken tikka

Welcome sometimes and well done cooking on your first few days and Yolo for sticking with it!

I have been kind of ill for the last month so I suspect I am losing muscle mass, but my weight is definitely down and in a NSV I wore a dress that I have been avoiding lately because I had weird back-of-hips fat in it.

Yesterday's food:
B: 3 scrambled eggs with cream
L: quorn bolognaise (leftovers at work - no veg though 😳)
D: vegetable moussaka and green salad

Slightly frenzied post-dinner rampage - 3 squares of dark chocolate (85%) and two paleo almond cookies (v low carb). I suck. I am veggie though so haven't been avoiding nuts completely. A bit worried as it is the evening snacking which added up to a few hundred calories which made me gain weight.

Nonetheless I will KOKO as I have made a good dent in my target so far.

YoLoZammo I think that's what happened to me too. Was craving chocolate yesterday. Ate loads of low carb food yesterday evening and have put on 2.5lb overnight.

B: Greek yoghurt and coffee with almond milk
L: Picnic of beef, hummous, celery, cheese, 1 strawberry
D: grilled chicken and bacon salad
S: normal coffee, cheese, cheese, Greek yoghurt with cocoa nibs, pepperoni slice, butter

Writing it down I think I needed more fat with my tea. I also only drank 2 litres of water.

Ada, I can empathise with how tough that must be. I know I've always given up on diets in the past (WW, SW, RC etc etc) because I didn't ever get the losses other people did in the first couple of weeks. I'm too new at this to give any advice really, but it did strike me that you said you had a carby weekend and I wonder if doing that so early in the process could mean that your body isn't quite in the zone yet? Anyway, have you posted your food diary - maybe worth doing so if not and asking some of the experts to comment to see if they can identify a problem?

Had a really bad day yesterday. I think I have put on everything I have lost. I probably won't eat today as I still feel bloated.

I had to have lunch out so opted for a cheese omelette and mushrooms.

Omelette had a different texture to it. Only later found out it was powdered egg. So I think that is 8 carbs just for the egg.

Lunch was ok but was 10 carbs.

Then unplanned I had to eat out in the evening at a restaurant I am very familiar with.
I didn't think I would have a problem

I thought I was getting a large mushroom stuffed with gorgonzola cheese.

What I got was an enormous pot of mushrooms in a "gravy" with a crust of melted cheese.

I ordered a goats cheese salad for main.
I have had this before and usually it is green salad with broccoli and green beans and a few halves of baby tomatoes and some goats cheese pieces sprinkled on top. What came was the usual with couscous, red peppers, loads of tomatoes, dried apricot and the biggest slab of goats cheese and in a dressing.

Only ate half of it and tried to avoid the peppers and tomatoes but the couscous coated everything.

So disappointed as I am now more than I was on Monday

Yolo, I also have an emotional relationship with food. Cake has always been for celebrations, cheering up etc.

I find it easy to live without sweets and crisps but struggle with cake and chocolate. I have a rule now which is that I will only eat a small piece of cake if it is homemade and the only chocolate I eat is 85% dark. Obviously this doesn't happen on bootcamp but once we've moved on.

I'm also finding other ways to 'treat' myself. For example, a new book or some lovely coffee, even a day trip somewhere.

Sad weighed today and I have gone up another lb.
I did LC for 10 days and lost 4lb in that time. Then had a fucking carby weekend last week and despite 5 days back on I am now weighing only 1lb less than I started.
I am disappointed and demotivated and feeling like I will never make LC Work for me. Being vegetarian I do eat a lot of dairy and although I'm trying to cut down I think that means I will never get the good losses on LC.
I'm not giving up but I had a bad day yesterday, ate a whole packet of halloumi, half a pot of cream and some raspberries which although all LC was a symptom of my binge behaviour creeping back.
Not sure how to regain my positive attitude if it seems the scales are showing me that the initial loss wasn't actually fat loss and just water.

Thanks for the new thread. Jim you do indeed look amazing, and you are so pretty! I wish I'd done this in my twenties and not spent them and my thirties as a fat person who nobody listens to and is sidelined as a less important human being just because of my size.

I've put today's wobble, cravings and increased appetite down to AF. I always crave chocolate this time of the month, not sure if it's more hormones or habit. Anyway I didn't give in and am pretty proud of myself. I have eaten more today than yesterday though.
I posted earlier about B and L. S was 2 babybels and a boiled egg with spoon of mayo. D was celery sticks spread with pate and a marmite drink in case I needed salt. I may help myself to a spoonful of greek yogurt before I go to bed. Just to get the taste of pate and marmite out of my mouth!

Loving the positive stories. Keeps us all motivated.

I am beginning to realize what an emotional relationship I have with food. I "treat" myself with cake and chocolate when I feel down, stressed, upset, have had a bad day, to cheer me up, etc. In fact, I now realise this is not a nice treat because I deserve it, I am actually disrespecting my body by shoving junk in. I deserve to be healthy, to fill my body with nutritious tasty food, not addictive sugar crap. I can love and respect myself by eating well.
There. I've said it.

I'm off to bed.
Stay strong everybody!
And if you can't ,maybe you've slipped a bit - don't beat yourself up about it. Flowers
Jump right back on it tomorrow.

We should make a pact. If we slip (and I know my time will come eventually) then we mustn't think well that's it, I might as well jack it all in and continue pigging out which is what usually happens

What we do is - We get up, brush ourselves off and continue where we left off.
It's silly to let one little mishap ruin all the good work we've put in.

I sound like a party political broadcast. Grin
But you know what I mean!

Night all.

Tonight was a test of strength.

Friday's usually my night for a couple of glasses of wine, closely followed by some bad food choices.
So it was a case of distracting myself tonight. I kept busy and took the dog for a really long walk until the cravings passed.
So, Still On It.

B - Boiled egg. Total FF yoghurt.
L- Cheese, salad with garlic mayo
D - Ready Meal Chicken curry (with the sauce washed off) Sounds gross but it tasted alright because I fried some mushrooms in butter, sti rfried some cabbage, so made my own low carb sauce.
S - Coffee with cream.

I had some rream left so have made some 'ice coffee' lollies for the weekend (for when I'm feeling deprived because it seems that on the weekend the rest of the world is living it up with wine and cake) made with 1/2 teaspoon coffee, 2/3rds water and 1/3rd cream plus a splash of vanilla essence in each lollie.
I hope they don't taste bitter (with no sugar). I probably should have used almond milk instead of the water but we'd run out.
I'll do a taste test tomorrow.
