Graded marking instead of exams

Based on my own experience learning with an ADHD condition and most children's stress with exams I feel that progression through school should be based on learning achievement rather than exam results.
My school reports always showed “A good terms work marred by a poor exam result“ My teaching degree achieved later in life showed that being given assignments graded on merit made for a successful result.
