I'm on baby number 6, currently 21 weeks and it's not going brilliantly. Ive got a multitude of silly things the matter with me. When i try google what's normal for your 6th baby all I can find it what to expect in month 6. So today ive been plagued with Braxton hicks on top of everything else. I was told from about baby 3 I had an irritable uterus, so just climbing the stairs sets them off. Also keen to hear of births that went well. The drs are scaring me half to death and due to my rapid labours I want a home birth. Feeling very bullied. So mothers of more than the usual hit me with it, I'll take it from you! Grin

I just gave birth to my 6th. it was my first induction but went quickly like my other labours. I was put on drip this time to make sure my uterus contracted and I didn't hemorrhage as was told that was a risk after 5 previous births and my low iron levels. if anything I've bounced back quicker this time. my body felt normal quicker. not sure if that maybe down to a totally different pregnancy and a 9 year gap Smile

extra Flowers so sorry to hear about your Dad and how poorly you are keeping - you are having a really tough time of it.

I am expecting #6 and am 22 weeks. Feel not too bad now but generally get really ill towards the end - something to look forward too.....

I had stomach surgery as a baby and have also had 3 sections - have a lot of scar tissue so my body doesn't stretch to accommodate a baby, meaning baby doesn't have much room so squashes all my organs. On the plus side I never get very big, so don't look pregnant - just in lots of pain!!

Sending you best wishes and hope things get better x

I have had 6,got more pelvic pain with the last and got alot of niggly pains from about 34 weeks, all my others where born naturally by 37 weeks,he was induced at 39 weeks. He is 11 now and have been trying for number 7 but not worked yet,so going to take 6 months off and try and lose at least 5 stone and start trying again,I'm 39 this year so need to start before the year is out.
Hope everything goes ok.xx

I'm expecting #9

Our #6 was a perfectly normal pregnancy. #4 was a nightmare (didn't help that he was 11lb 6oz.. I was suffering big time and they kept telling me he was going to be a small baby!) #7 was normal too. #8 was fine in pregnancy but I had placental abruption at 37 weeks.. He was born 4 hours later. this one is fine so far.. Smile

Thanks imip. My bp is on the floor 80/47 so all I have done is rest rest rest. This pregnancy is like no other ive ever had. They cut the NHS maternity services in my area and all I can say is there basically is no care in my area at all now. It's a 30 mile ambulance job to nearest crap hospital who couldn't even be bothered to dip a urine sample. There is a better hospital in my mums area so will go there once 24 weeks. Just got to get there and counting the days. I'm 23 weeks tomorrow. Currently too ill to make my dads funeral. :-(

Sorry to hear that extra

I really do understand as I lost my first dd at 25+4 in my first pregnancy and subsequent pregnancies was as you described. You're right about the benefits of an independent midwife. At my hosp, they did start with steroid injections at 23 weeks - this was 9 yrs ago. I've done that countdown to 24 weeks - actually while I was in labour...

Wishing you a quick wait to 24 weeks. I know it sounds trite, but try to get some rest. I know it's tough, but I always felt more contractionary when I was doing too much.

Sorry to hear about your dad also Flowers

Sorry for lack of update. Things have taken quite a drastic turn. I wasn't well already and am awaiting IV iron due to previous bowel surgery meaning tablets aren't doable any more. Ive been aneamic 20 years. My bowls already low and fainting and dizziness are horrid. Breathlessness is also a massive issue. Then my dad passed away suddenly 10 days ago without any warning. And since then ive been plagued with contractions. Sunday was 3 in 10 minutes each lasting a minute. I was expecting to start bleeding but so far haven't. Now have protein im my urine and awaiting results from lab. The nhs care has been appalling and thank god I have paid for an independent midwife. Just hoping I get to 24 weeks at the moment, currently 22+6. As they wont intervean before. Just said to call an ambulance if I start bleeding. Sunday was a terrible day as the hospital refused to do basic checks. Sad

I'm having baby number 7!!Shock Shock
I'm 33 weeks, doctors are generally more worried as you can get complications the more you have, but so far so good.
I've been suffering with high bp, and I'm on meds for it.
They are keeping a closer eye on me this time.
Braxton hicks are more common, but for me I think it's more the fact that I'm more in tune with my body than I was in my previous pregnancies.
I too was really worried when I got pregnant this time, as I think the doctors scared the hell out of me last time.
Try to relax, I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile Smile

When pregnant with my 6th child I had spotting and bleeding on and off for 20+ weeks. Then settled. I was advised and booked for induction at 40+10 but labour started spontaneously the night before I was due in. From first pain to delivery was just under 90mins. And I still managed to get to the hospital just in time Grin.

I have 8 DC's. no.6 for me was just fine, I had him at home. He arrived before the midwives, so DH had to deliver him! All my deliveries have been normal, and no problems after. I always get anaemic during pregnancy so take iron tablets.

I respect the all of doctors advice I was given and listened to all that was said, but they cannot make you do anything you don't want. I like to be informed but not pressured into a birth I would regret later.

congratulations on no.6!

Eternal im glad you said that. Because I currently feel like I'm under a horrid black cloud. I know from experience when the baby comes it will lift. I do feel like the surplus incubator. It's good to hear that from someone else.

With my 6th the placenta cam out very quickly and easily, having said that I did bleed a lot more than with previous births in the hours afterwards. The midwives had gone and I was a little worried for a while. My last 4 babies were also very slow cookers, 3 weeks over so I understand about medical pressures. I had to fight not to be induced.

Hello ladies thankyou. Apparently the horror stories are based on statistics taken from 3rd world countries where larger families are common place. But I just don't think it's a comparison because we have far different care here.
Ive had all spontaneous onset with vag births. The first was ventouse. But they got easier and easier. The last 2 were at home. And I labour very rapidly. But this time apparently there is s higher risk of post partem heamorage (sp) So they want me in hospital. I don't want to go. I just want to be all natural at home. Ive employed an independent midwife. She's happy to deliver me. But I'm just feeling overwhelmed by mounting pressure from drs to be over medicalised when I don't see the need. Currently also aneamic so feeling like crap.

I have 6, youngest is 7, oldest is 16. First 2 were sections, middle 2 were uncomplicated vbacs in hospital.Last 2 were home births,.
The last birth was one of the most difficult though.
He had got himself wedged at a funny angle. He couldn't flex his head as his fist was stuck under his chin so came put presenting the widest part of his head (ouch)

not many people do, so medics are nervous. I was told horror stories and threatened with a section but the birth was fine.
