Thinking of going for baby 2 with frozen eggs

Not 100% sure why I'm posting really.

Our DD is 2.5 and conceived via IVF. During that cycle we managed to freeze 4 embryos.... yay!
We are now thinking of going for number 2 using our frozen embryos. Hoping to get things going for September.

I need to call the clinic to find out the process but guess I am slightly concerned about dipping my toe in the TTC pool again.

We haven't used protection for well over year but using withdrawal till May this year......
We have unexplained infertility by the way ....

Anyway, we were TTC for 4 years before IVF and I won't lie my sanity took a beating. I'm trying to not monitor myself now but it's difficult, I know when I should be ovulating so trying not to think we should DTD and I certainly don't want to get into symptom spotting again and dreading the TWW!!!

So we are just thinking IVF, September ! We have 4 to use and statistically we should get one more out of those.

Anyone been through a frozen cycle for number 2? I'm really not sure of the protocol, I know I won't need to do all the drugs I did last time but are any drugs involved?

Xx

My daughter is my miracle after 10yrs ttc and took 5 private ivf - 3 Abroad to even get a whiff of a bfp

Slightly older then I wanted to be - 45 next week but Mother Nature didn’t play ball lol

But got there in the end and hope you do with no 2

She is now almost 16mths. Weirdly enough yesterday when I replied was the day 2yrs ago the embryo was defrosted and implanted - tho tech made 28 Dec 2015 and frozen 6.5mths

I think you can decide - chose medicated first one as was on holiday so needed to prolong

@Blondeshavemorefun congrats lovely! Hope your pregnancy is going well!

I called the clinic yesterday to find out more info, just have to wait for someone to call me back.

Does anyone know the deciding factor for if they do a natural or controlled cycle?
My cycles are pretty regular now a days x

Havnt had a fet for baby 2

But did have 2 fets from cycle 3 (which failed) and the 2nd fet /5th ivf in all I finally got preg for the first time

After 3 fresh cycles I can honestly say fets are a doddle

No daily injections - no scans every few days

So much easier to plan around work /childcare

You can either have natural or medicated

Natural day of first period inform clinic and they will tell you what dose is tablets to take

Medicated. Prob put you on the pill so control your body and then stop it and period comes few days later and as above

It’s usually done over 18/22 days

So have a scan around day 10/12 and then et a week later if scam shows all is well

Ideally like a lining of 1.1 but some clinics do .8

And if you have a triple layer that’s good - doesn’t always happen

My ice ice baby is now almost 16mths

Bloody amazing technology

Some clinics will do a natural FET - timing it to your ovulation - or they may prefer to take control of the timing and other variables by adding in some meds (basically something along the lines of downregging and then estrogen and progesterone). You won't need any stims, though.

Congrats @welshweasel hope you have been feeling ok with it.

Yes I remember the pessaries well!

I think as it worked so well the first time we are sorting assuming it will all go to plan next time... when obviously that might not be the case so trying to manage our expectations is quite hard.

I'm glad you managed to conceive again with your frozen embryos, must have been tough losing the other two. X

My DS is almost 2.5 and was the result of our first cycle of IVF - we got 3 frozen blastocysts and started trying again earlier this year. First cycle failed, second didn’t thaw and currently 10 weeks pregnant with our final embryo. Our clinic pushes medicated over natural cycles but it was v straightforward. Started taking oestrogen tablets and pessaries on day one, had a scan to check lining on day 12 then added in progesterone pessaries for 6 days before transfer.
