Doctors messed up

Consultant prescribed clomid, although he said that he believes that it's an exercise in futility. However I wanted to be sure that I've tried everything I can before moving to ivf. So cd2 - 6 100mgs for three months before upping the dose. I took this to a chemist, filled the first month. So far so good.

Except that they should have filled the first three months, so my gps had to rewrite the prescription (I live in Ireland and stuff like this can get a bit complicated). Drs called and said prescription ready. My dad and dp went lifted it, filled it and came home a few hours later. To tell me that I have to go back to the chemist because they didn't have enough clomid to fill the prescription.

Instead of prescribing 10 50mg to take two for five days, my GP prescribed 56. Instructions - take two daily for a month. Then repeat prescription next month. The chemist even called them to confirm that they had written the right prescription and they said they had.

I'm finding it kind of funny now, but for the last 36 hours I had all the clomid in a 25 mile radius.

Right. I just can't bear to even imagine what would happen if you took the GP's advice..anyhow, glad you didn't follow this advice. Best of luck with your treatment

No, I asked about scans and they said just blood tests are fine.

The overall view is that it's not going to work, so we're going to Gennet in Prague for ivf. It's not funded here at all so we have to pay, and it's cheaper and more successful in Prague.

Are you getting scans done? Aside from the blood test towards the end of the month it's the only real way to tell if the C has worked.

Yes, Tips, 56 tablets for the whole month. 100mg of clomid per day, every day. Even the chemist thought it didn't sound right, and told me she'd rung the doctors to confirm. The drs were convinced they'd written it right. I was Hmm, but I'm not stupid enough to take that many. I'll stick to how the consultant prescribed it. (I have to find it funny, because if I don't I'd lose my shit, but seriously, if they prescribed it this way to someone who didn't know that it's not meant to be taken like this, I'd hate to think of the consequences).

Jamon, I've done the first month, and had some cramping (expected, I have a hydrosalpinx on the left side), sudden temperature changes, and some mood swings. Although everything I've said needed to be said, but under normal circumstances I'd have been much more diplomatic about it!
