Hey

Has anyone else had a blood test for irregular periods and had these results/ knows what they mean? All my other results were normal eg LH and FSH,

History why I had tests: Age 26, I Stoped the pill in Jan 2017, had a period in Jan, nothing in Feb,March,April. 14 days late period started in May, nothing in June and July started 21 days late.

Been trying to conceive since April but its difficult when my periods are all messed up as I dont know if im ovulating.

Your LH and FSH results were pretty much typically actually for someone who has polycystic ovaries or its related syndrome called PCOS. This is also why it is important that LH and FSH are compared against each other when tested because they can look "ok" if only looked at separately. They should always be compared.

The fact that your LH is about 3 times higher than your FSH level is very indicative of polycystic ovaries and that is why your periods are irregular. The medical record you posted also indicated PCO.

The blood test you have done next month will probably also give a very similar result in terms of numbers. I think I would now start asking your doctor to make a request to be referred onto a gynaecologist at a subfertility unit.

The usual first line of treatment for PCO is clomid which is a drug treatment in the form of tablets. However, this is quite powerful stuff so you should be monitored whilst on it. No monitoring is not acceptable as you will then not know whether its working or not (clomid's main job is to make the ovaries work harder).

My FSH was 3.1 and my LH was 11 so not sure what ratio that is?

Ive got to have my LH and FSH test next month on the 2nd to fifth day of my period as apparently thats when you get a true result.

Sorry to hear your results. How did they find that out? Did they put you on any medication to sort it out?

How about your LH/ FSH ratio? My levels were 'within range' so GP dismissed me as fine, but when looking at the ratio mine was 2:1. For example LH was 12 and FSH was 6. It should be 1:1. When investigated by a private consultant, together with polycystic ovaries it turned out I ovulated immature eggs, thus my chances for natural conception were pretty much zero...
My testosterone was also fine.

Thanks.

I went back to the drs this morning. She said I have suspected PCO. And I have to have an ultra scan to rule it out as my other blood result ratios are fine.

She said the pill doenst affect testerone levels so it cant be that.

It take a month to get an ultra scan appointment.

Also have to have blood test results done next month on day 2-5 of my period as the test I had done was on the first day of my period.

From that it seems like you have PCOS. I'm sure what your local doctors protocol is but usually they refer you to the fertility clinic after a year of trying, in which they'll probably try you with Clomid. There is lots of information online and on here about PCOS and how to conceive, I'd take a lot and get as much information as you can.
All the best
