Infertility

Improving health before treatment

I have secondary infertility and am also underweight and anaemic.

I need to be as healthy as possible before treatment but feel so impatient. How long will it take?-need to put on at least half a stone and get iron count up.
What else can I do? Are there any supplements/dietary changes that could help? General lifestyle things that may improve chances

Thanks

So your bmi is below about 18.5?

You could check your thyroid to make sure its not gone overactive after dc1. This could mean weight loss, diarrhoea, heart racing, anxiety etc. and affect periods.

I have always been bordering on underweight going by bmi but in my family that's how we are, tall and thin. Saying that I know I've dropped a bit too low now (been busy, rushing about more etc and I lose weight easily).

When pg before, after the initial sickness went I out on 3.5-4 stone each time and felt so much better but it never stays on.
My periods have been irregular or missed and I feel tired which is also due to the anaemia.

I am taking folic acid and an iron supplement and thought I had quite a healthy diet but I'm wondering what else can I do. I feel rubbish so have a feeling it will be affecting everything

I guess that depends why you are underweight.
Were you heavier when pg with dc1?
