Clomid round one!

Hopesonewby · 05/01/2015 18:44

Hi ladies
Anyone want to join me on the Clomid run?! This is my first prescription following 2 long years of ttc after a mmc - we were 1.5 years in before that :/

Finally convinced the consultant to give Clomid a go! My cycles have been from 33 to 86 days since the mmc. So happy to know when I'll ov, just hope this one sticks Grin

I'm on day two of Clomid, anyone else in the same boat?

My department know, only because I trust them, my hod is really supportive and has let me have as much as I need. It's tough but you will know the right time.

Thanks. I know they have to let me go, it just doesn't mean I feel comfortable asking. I'm not too keen on telling them what I'm going for either!

I find it so odd that how you get treated depends on your home address. Are they transvaginal scans that you have to check for follicles?

Hello

I think it very much depends on your local nhs trust. From your username if you are a teacher the school has to allow you to go to any fertility appointment.

Hi there lovely ladies,

I have been offered Clomid but had to have a scan to check my ovaries and fallopian tubes first. I had my transvaginal scan last month and my HSG today. I am awaiting my appointment with my consultant when I am to be given the tablets. I have read your thread and had no idea they monitored you whilst you were on them....is this common? Or have some of you been left to get on with it yourself? Just worrying me that I'll need more time off work for the appointments! Hope you're all doing well xxx

Hi girls,

AF is here, so tomorrow I'll start with round 3. Normally I take my Clomid after dinner, I'll take them after breakfast this time to mix things up a bit Hmm.

I hate that the clinic is not monitoring me anymore, I don't know whats going on!

Hello
Donttellmetorelax did you test???

Report

Fingers crossed for you patch77.

I'll POAS tomorrow, I'm biting my hands to not test today, but not long now to find out if 2nd roud has worked for me or not. Most of the times I feel normal, but I have moments feeling all the symptoms at the same time.

Fingers crossed patch77! I've had different symptoms every month which I read could or equally could not mean pregnancy so unfort the only way to know is from a positive test - it's enough to drive you insane! I'm on day 4 of 5 of taking my clomid and so far feel normal...did most people who've taken feel different in any way?

Will now sit back and wait.

Hi ladies, how's everybody doing?

patch77 That's great news! Very good chances to concieve with 3 follies!

I've been a few days away so my 2ww has been quite relaxed, till now. I'll test next saturday, but I started with the symptoms. Yesterday I felt a new one! I had like sharp stabbing pain in my cervix, it lasted less than a minute, but obviously the first thing a did when I got home was too google it, and guess what? It may mean pregnancy, or not. Thanks again google.

Has anybody experienced anything like it?

Hi all,
I'm 34, TTC #13 months and have just started taking clomid today (1x50mg day 2-6) then having scan on day 10 to check my follicles and make sure don't have more than 2 then I think I have to use OPKs every morning until a positive then DH has to provide a sample for me to be rushed in for iui...romantic! No talk if any injections so it's all very different..only entitled for 2 cycles of IUI too so fingers crossed!

I took 2 50mg tablets for 5 days. It worries me that the dose is quite high for the first cycle. Still waiting to hear from the hospital, maybe i need to ring them again tomorrow.

Hi ladies!

I'm 37 and on Clomid too. It surprises me how different the protocol is from region to region.

I'm on my second month. On the first round they scanned me 3 times until they saw a big fat follie and then on cd25 (I have 32 days cycles) they took a blood test for progesterone. They said I ovulated, but I didn't get pregnant. I have to keep taking 50 mg for 5 more months with no tests from the clinic. I'm worried that I might ovulated the first month, but not the second :(

That's reassuring to hear, love stories from the 30 club! I work in a hospital and see preg women EVERYWHERE. Most of which seem to be half my age! When I talk friends/family I hear that more and more women are our age when ttc. All I can say is that I wouldn't have what I've got now if it'd happened 10 years ago, things are settled and ready (well as much as we can be without any clue about how much this will affect our lives)

Good luck with the scan result Smile

Newly two years for us, I'm slightly older at 36

Sounds like it, prob slight variation of treatment depending on test results/hormone levels I guess. How long have you been ttc? Might be best to dtd as much as possible to maximise chances. We've tried to time it to suspected ov, and here we are two years later... its really difficult to switch off from the pressure, but this treatment really has taken a weight off our shoulders. I'm 33 and don't want to wait too much longer for this

Not a clue about the injection. Maybe different regions do different things? Very confusing

Report
Hopesonewby · 05/01/2015 21:04

Sounds very different to what we've been told.. we've been advised to dtd every other day after af then at CD21 the bloods will determine if I've already ovd. Then I have to go back for a preg test two weeks later (all a bit of a blur but I don't think I have to have another internal).. hope not anyway! Is it a progesterone IV you're having?

Yep, from what I understand from the consultant. You have to have an internal ultrasound to check the folicals for growth. If they are happy I think I then get an injection in order to release them before dh and I have the most passion-killer evening of preplanned sex ever! Then you wait and see until af arrives or not.

Glad to hear it, tell me more about the scan - is it to prove that you ov? I have to go back to the clinic on CD21 for blood tests, I don't think I'll be having a scan
