Hi
Was just wondering if anyone has had brown watery discharge after et. This is our second attempt we had brown spotting first round that turned into my period exactly same time first time I'm petrified it's going to happen again it does seem slightly lighter but wanted to no it anyone has had same and ended up with positive test I also keep getting really bad backache. We had a blastocyst transfered and 3 to freeze I was convinced we had such a good batch this time they say nothing is wrong with my uterus It just feel like these little emblems don't like me . X

How lovely to come back and update OP!

@Celeste88 ((big hugs)) I have had IVF a few times and have only bled (prior to full on period) when pregnant - it happens to some of us. Best of luck.

Hi
This is an old post 8 years ago and brings back all the memories of fear that you are going through and i know nothing can take you from the mental torture, there is hope by some miracle we now have 4 children the third round we conceived a little girl who turned 8 in may we then went on ans did another 3 rounds and had another little girl who has just started school these were fresh rounds and we froze some from her round and we 2 years ago we transferred 2 frozen and we now have twins a boy and a girl, i am greatful everyday and remind ourselves of how painful it was at the begging i can honestly say when you do conceive your appreciation for your baby is beyond when going through such a tough time i’m also a lot of a stronger person than i ever have been, i had some light bleeding and some brown discharge when i fell pregnant with the twins it’s so hard to tell so early and it’s mentally draining and you can only wait but another couple days you will know the outcome for sure i know the days feel so long , have you had anything else since this morning , sending you all the baby magic in the world xxx

Hello, I know it's an old post. I feel so anxious at the moment at 6days post embryo transfer. I've been searching for signs everywhere on the internet. I had 2 failed embryo transfer last year + 1 that was canceled one day before because of bleeding. Now, a year later we have tried another round with 2 embryos transferred this time contrarily to last year where single was transferred the 2 times.

I had some light bleeding that disappeared as fast as it appeared. But brown discharge this morning. 2 tests yesterday hadba strong and a very faint line. But another test this morning came out negative.

I got sad while reading your post. I can totally relate at the moment. Did you get any positive outcome in your journey? ❤️

I did mention it but I feel really confused at what my dr says and then what they tell me at clinic is different, I'm really depressed at the moment we have one attempt left before we start paying everyone keeps telling me to believe it but after 2 failed attempts I feel even more worried x

Did you ask about other progesterone options after bleeding at 12 days after ec each time?
I mentioned at my failed cycle review spotting from 12days and they said 9 days would be early. So no need to change (but also because the pregesterone pessaries had worked for me before)

No its not selfish. Hopefully your friend n sil have some understanding and realise this is your life and your heartbreak at the moment. IVF must be incredibly hard (I am a recurrent miscarrier which isn't the same but not that fun either) and the strength that you need to pick yourself up after losses like this is tremendous, let alone to face people with happy new babies. If I knew you I would cut you all the slack in the world, for being so tenacious and brave. You just have to be pleased for them as much as you can be, cos they won't be having Your Child. I hope for the very best for you.

Don't worry its totally normal to feel bitter towards women around you that get pregnant so easily when its so hard for us. In our circle of friends 5 babies were born last 2 years and it broke my heart each time :( and then I had to go to all the christenings and 1st birthday parties, its so hard! I love the babies of course but it is painful to watch other people talking about how its the best thing that ever happened. So yeah it's ok to have negative feelings about it :)

Thankyou ladies, they did say they were of better quality this time something about the placenta was mentioned don't think they fully explain my fertility dr has told us before my egg quality can be affected by cycsts, I feel so down people say you got to believe it will happen and I do to some extend but I get so frightened of feeling like this again I guess you try to protect yourself a little bit. I get so worried it's crazy I even start thinking my thoughts are effecting me from not getting pregnant it's so tiring battling with your thoughts I know you ladies understand if feels so good to talk to people you know understand. My friend at work is 8 months pregnant and sister in law trying for a baby I should feel excited for them I just dread the day she says she is because I know it will be so hard is that selfish? Xxx

Jellytots it does depend on the quality of the blastocysts to some extent.

There is a correlation between their morphology (what they look like) and the rate of success.

Clinics will grade them. Initially they used letters, now they use numbers. Although a blastocyst that doesn't look so good can definitely make a baby, the chance is not so high.

My first fresh round resulted in two blastos. One graded Ab was put back in and resulted in biochemical.
At time of transfer we we're give a 60% chance of pregnancy.

An Ab/a was frozen but we had a failed thaw (about 30% of embryos fail to thaw)

Second round, two fresh both graded Bb. Given a 40% chance of success. BFN.

Third fresh, two Aa blastos transferred. Given 70% chance of success and if successful 50% chance of twins - BFP (twins).

The two on ice are graded Bb so less likely to be successful, but it depends on the quality frozen.

You could ask for a chat with the embryologist. I did and found it really helpful.

No not all - did you say you got to blasto? In that case they should all have a good chance, which of course does make it extra upsetting when it doesn't work. You are also much more likely to end up with multiples if you use more than one!

Sorry for all the questions but is it likely the ones I've froze from this second cycle are likely to fail as the fresh ones we've used did?

Hi Jelly - one pregnancy from the second fresh, one from the frozen which came from the second fresh batch.

Basically my first go was rubbish (it's often a practice run for those who end up with a few NHS goes I feel), I was on a low rate of drugs and didn't respond well. I clearly got a few good ones in the second batch - well, at least two :)

Thankyou we definitely will try a double next time, can I ask we're your pregnancies from the fresh or did you get one from the frozen?

Many thanks x

I've had three double transfers (two fresh, one frozen - only 2-day embryos) and had one fail, one singleton pregnancy, one singleton pregnancy. However I also know loads of twin mums! Personally after a couple of failures (which I am so sorry about OP), I would go for a double transfer, but you do have to work out if you'd be okay with that turning into twins, or even triplets!

We are allowed 3 cycles of ivf I've used 2 we paid to have embies frozen on the third attempt I think we can use our frozen ones if we wanted or do all the meds agin if we wanted, but I guess we're better off doing a fresh and saving frozen for later when we have to pay.
Thankyou x

Do they not include the frozen transfer as part of your fresh cycle on the NHS where you are?

Where I am a full cycle includes the transfer of any remaining frosties. That said, they only offered one fresh cycle plus frosties so we had to pay for our two subsequent fresh. I'm up North and my clinic was not for profit so £3k for full fresh cycle including all drugs, scans and consultant appointments.

I had a single blastocyst transferred on cycle 1. The only spare blasto was frozen but the cycle was cancelled on day of transfer due to a failed thaw.

Second fresh cycle resulted in two good blastos. Both transferred. BFN.

Third fresh cycle, four good blastos. Two transferred, two on ice. BFP (twins) from fresh.

Pregnancy was complicated and twin motherhood very hard. But... I wouldn't change it for the world.

Whether to have a double or single transfer is a very hard decision. And a personal one. Nobody can really advise you (beyond assessing the quality of the embryos) so you have to do what is right for you and your family. However, if you feel you need to keep going then it probably isn't the right time to stop yet.

I very much hope things work out for you.

Thankyou that gives me lots of hope it's what I need right now I know I gotta keep going I have 3 frozen and one attempt left on nhs I was considering using 2 frozen on last attempt but not sure what is best to do I feel so confused. The thought of injecting and egg collection again just drains me but I want a baby so bad guess you just find the strength. Really appreciate you sharing your story

Jellytots, please don't despair.

My first fresh IVF I started to spot on test day (14dp EC). Beta-HCG was 72 so BFP but spotting got worse and ended in a biochemical Sad

Second round started spotting 10 dp EC and became full period. BFN.

Third fresh IVF. Started to spot 12 dp EC. Was devastated. Continued to bleed. Beta-HCG at 14dp EC 167. Still bleeding. Bleeding stopped 15dp EC. Clinic repeated beta-HCG 16dp EC due to bleed. 273.

My b/g twins are now 15 months. I am so very sorry you haven't been successful this time, but it can still happen. I had IVF due to tubal infertility and had three fresh rounds and a failed frozen. It is so very hard to go through it but sometimes it just takes time.

I really hope your time comes soon.

Yea I'm not sure if I should just have 2 frozen ones planted next time or do all the injections again they were really against us having 2 but last go next time before we can afford a round so just going to say we're having 2 we need to go all out

Oh Jellytots. I have been there and know the pain all too well. I read your post the other day but felt there was nothing I could add to answer your question. Far out it's frustrating; what on earth goes wrong when you have an embryo make it all the way to blastocyst and just needs to implant. I am a poor responder and never have any to freeze so I guess that's some kind of back up plan but of course I understand your pain now.

It could be the first sign of your period but you already know that.
It could also be implantation although it seems a bit late but I heard lots of stories about women who have spotted and even bled but turned out to pregnant.
I don't think there's any way of knowing and only time will tell. For me this is the worst part of IVF the few days before your AF is due.
Keep us posted and I'll keep my fingers crossed Smile
