Hi,
I'm really interested to here other peoples experiences with infertility? any success stories? I'm just going through the process of tests etc. which is stressful and draining but hopefully find the answers I need. I'm defiantly ovulating as I already had my first set of bloods waiting for my partners now. Advise and a chat needed :)

HELP! Does anyone have some Menopur I can buy off them today/ tomorrow? I am in Canterbury I can drive anywhere in England with cash if we can agree a price. I am undergoing fertility treatment from a clinic in Spain. They sent me a prescription which Asda got for me but today the clinic has emailed asking me to increase the dose even though I have explained you can't just pop to the chemist & buy it off the shelf especially when it's a bank holiday week-end!! Pretty desperate as have spent a fortune & will miss my window if I do not increase dosage. Please contact me if you can help a woman take her last shot at getting pregnant xx

Yh the nhs system is so slow in england, I just think they are useless tbh ha. I have a scan on 6th feb then my hospital appointment is 24th feb so still got a while to wait.
I hope you get somewhere with your new doctor! Good look xx

Thanks Nat. I have just had a counseling appointment at my new IVF clinic (a mandatory thing before we can do IVF here is Australia). I will see my new doctor next Tuesday. I am hoping she is good. I have done IVF 3 times before now and have done much research so I am not wanting to go in there and be told what they will do to me. Instead I want a doctor who will listen to me and respect what I would like. So we shall see. When is your hospital appointment? I am not sure how your NHS system works but from what I read on here, it sounds so slow.

Shellster sorry to hear that you can't get any help off the NHS. I think everyone should get one free try tbh.
I've finally got my hospital
Appointment through so just need to go from there now and see what happens.

Thanks Naty I'll have a look into that x

Natalie maybe they do have a target of sorts, try checking hfea site or nice(even though they don't have to comply with that)
You could plead confusion, see diff Dr say you were being referred and it hasn't come through yet.
(I think the appt can take a while to come through. But should maybe within 18 weeks, so if it's been a while no harm chasing

Natalie, it's so frustrating when they don't have any set protocol and you don't know where you stand with them telling you they would up your Clomid if it didn't work and then changing their mind. Then they tell you they will refer you on to IVF if it doesn't work and then they don't. I have had very bad medical help and know how frustrating it is. To answer your question, I am not eligible for NHS as I am in Australia!

Kayleigh I know exactly how you feel when you get your hopes up at every little thing. I have my fingers crossed for you!
Naty I got referred to the gynae after 18months of trying, I do have pcos, my partner has been tested and he's fine. I have been tried on clomid and metformin but they never up my dose of clomid which was promised at the start and then they said if that doesn't work I'll be sent for ivf (again promised and that never happened) it just annoys me so much they don't understand what we have to go through. It had been so hard for me for the last 5years x

I have no idea. I was always thinking about the implantation bleeding, turned out when i got pregnant i didnt have it.
But lots seem to.
Probably just best to wait and see.
I had a strange cycle around xmas(but then i have pcos and too many sweets didnt help me)
Good luck
Did you say if oh had been checked yet?
About 25% cases are just men and 25% are both

Something strange has happened this month AF has arrived 5 days early? of course im reading about implantation bleeding but all signs for that is brown/pink in colour well yes last night that is what I had so you can imagine the hope I have well today its heavier it still isn't like a normal period for me? does anyone have any similar stories as I'm thinking this is just an early period and another thing to shatter my hopes.

IMO they beed to sort out the postcode lottery for nhs treatment. If its going to be 1,2,3 goes it should be equal.
It is 1 round my area. But each also has additional rules for weight smoking etc. in some areas if you are successful on round 1 you can continue to round 2 for a second child, but not others.
Natalie do they not refer after 3 years for unexplained?
It is a bizarre situation. We were referred after 1.5 yrs due to low sperm count. But i could still be waiting with just my pcos. I think it would be 4 years ttc now

Shellster52 have you not be able to get a try of IVF for free on the nhs because of your age ect? I'm only 25 but have been trying for 5years and not been offered IVF but on the nhs website it says we should be able to have a free try, some people get up to 3 try's for free. Xx

Thank you (ExpectingTwins and fflonkl* for you success stories. It gives me hope too that you were born 75 expecting (I assume!) and that you were 38 fflonkl. I am 36 and when I hear of how younger people conceive so easily, it makes me feel over the hill. I am a very poor responder with IVF but my embryo quality has improved with each of my 3 IVF's so I can only hope that IVF 4 will work to make my $20,000 worthwhile!

Another lovely story. One day it will be my turn to tell my success story. I have started loosing weight again, wouldn't even say I need to loose that much tbh but just keeping it up as then the doctors can't blame anything on my weight ect.

Hi there thought I'd share my story too. We did IVF last year and were so very lucky to get a BFP on our first try (DD is now 10 months old; we had been TTC-ing for about 4 years). The issues were all mine - fibroids, endo, blocked tube.

I was on a fairly high dose of Menopur for 18 days and got very blase with injecting myself Smile

I like to think that what helped with the whole process was how fit I was (was doing huge amounts of exercise before starting and throughout) and keeping a positive attitude over the whole period, which in turn meant I was very relaxed about it all.

We went private by the way as the NHS made us wait 7 months between the first consultation and the follow-up appointment (I was about to turn 39 at this point).

Good luck!

Hi Kayleigh ... I ttc for 6+ years with nothing happening. Our infertility was 'unexplained' Did ICSI in oct last year now expecting twins after our first go. Only ended up with 2 viable embryos so have been extremely lucky. Although ivf wasn't exactly pleasant - it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Good luck with yours!

I'd not leave the doctors until they give you the help and support you need. I feel the same I would always read these kinds of things but found no one would ever write any conclusions or write back for that matter. But THANKYOU for listening and replying. Like you said it will be our turn we have to just stay positive

I haven't found any weight loss on met but not sure it affects my weight too much I would say I have lean pcos 5'4 9 st
I just think I don't eat well used to skip breakfast eat lots of chocolate. I think I get cravings.
I wonder if my pcos is immune system based as also now have thyroid probs.
I feel for people who are larger with pcos as they are required to loose weight but it may not be due to that or at least they could have been thin with it.
Although it still is a really good idea having only positive benefits.
I do tend to probably binge a bit.
Eating brown bread rice and pasta and less of these carbs does help

I may mention to my doctor about taking metformin again as that did help me loose weight also.
I'm glad that there's people like you lot who actually write back, I feel like I have someone to talk to by coming on here so thank you all.
Kayleigh fingers crossed for you and your partner, it will be our turn soon we deserve it x

My partner handed his sperm test in on Monday so it has been the longest week waiting ( still not heard). Natalie I know what your saying everyone says to me don't worry It will happen when its suppose to but just like you I want that now. I have found finally admitting and talking about it has been a big help and its really nice to hear other peoples experiences. Maybe now you have a new Dr they will give u more support and patience to find out exactly when your ovulating. All these ovulation kits cost money as well as pregnancy tests. I had a similar experience I missed a period ( this was actually due to stress) only ever missed one, my periods are very regular so genuinely thought I was pregnant and had symptoms but clearly was all in my head. It really is a stressful thing. Lets keep our fingers crossed we deserve it as much as the next person probably more after all we have had to deal with x
