Toy storage for living room?

Just wondered if anyone had any tips or ideas on where and how to store toddlers toys- we have nowhere else to put these downstairs other than the living room and usually it's where she will be playing most of the day! Currently everything is just bunged in an empty ball pit but want something tidier - but not too expensive?

Ikea kallax.

Put her toys in those cube baskets, easy to tidy away at the end of the day.

The kallax must be bolted to the wall though (there’s been incidents where toddlers climbed on them and they fall).

I’ve just got two largeish soft wicker laundry baskets a colour to match the living room but the cubes and shelving are great if you have the room. We have a weird shaped living room so no wall space for it. We have one basket (with a lid) under the window and one the other side of the room

We use the IKEA Kallax unit too. We have some of the the fabric boxes/drawers that you can pull right out for smaller items.

The Kallax is handy as it will be useable elsewhere if you move/need to move it. They aren't the prettiest but they get the job done.

A big wicker laundry hamper is also a good idea for just chucking bigger toys in at the end of the day. A hamper will last past the toddler age too as it can be reused for laundry etc in the future.

Toy box and kallax

We had a 2x4 kallax, and limited toys to what would fit in or on it for the first few years. Also anything like footstools & coffee tables, choose ones with hidden storage.

I have an ottoman storage box, from Amazon, a very similar colour to be feature wall in the living room. I love it, just throw all the toys in at the end of the day and put the lid on, job done

We have an ottoman like this it looks amazing you can sit on it in living room and keeps all the crap hidden 🤣

I used an office cupboard (with shelves rather than hanging space) that I bought from a second hand shop. It was useful when ds moved onto boxed games and you could see the side of the box at a glance.

Kallax again here, and a big wire basket/coffee table yoke (also IKEA) for the soft toys. Cubes along the bottom for toys and two of the top cubes have doors with safety latches on to save the router, TV box and nappies from throwing.

I have used IKEA furniture in the past and it did the job, however, now I have a wonderful old 1930's glass fronted china cabinet, which I bought on the Irish equivalent of eBay. It cost 80 Euro (about £60stg) and has pride of place in our family room. I bought a few baskets in a chain store and have these on the shelves filled with toys. I just take them out when DS wants to play and put them away when we need the space for ourselves.

It really makes a statement and every parent who visits admires it.
