sitting room / bedroom, could it work?

Hiya

we have a snoring problem in our flat. It means either one of us ends up on the sofa which isn't long enough to scratch and we end up with bad backs and endless arguments.

Our sitting room is L shaped. In the main body is the sofa, armchair, coffee table and telly

In the shorter part, and out of the way so you can't see it when you enter the room, is our dining table. It's always been a tight squeeze so we generally eat at coffee table anyway

Would it be a silly idea to get a single bed in there, and get rid of the dining table? I don't want to turn the sitting room into a bed room, just somewhere for us to lay our heads. Maybe even a sofa bed in there

We're on a tight budget so not use what to do

Has anyone else done this, and can anyone give any tips as to how we can make it work

Thanks for reading x

yes - a reading area for me - sounds like heaven. I am picturing a day bed / murphy bed and a book shelf with reading light. Simple and heavenly.

Eggwhisk - can you remember how much you paid for a murphy bed? And it looks kind of complicated - do you have to fix it to the wall?

We have a murphy bed in our L shaped living room, it's fab and takes up very little room. We got ours on ebay

Could also make it a study/reading area with a day bed? Single bed masquerading as sofa with lots of cushions?

Those pull out beds are called Murphy beds. Google it and you'll find some companies that make them.

Not another, that is amazing!!! Very expensive but I'll look for similar on ebay. We could potentially have a dining table and bed with that contraption! Thank you

Deep blue, please believe me when I say we have tried everything over past 15 years. From nasal strips to sprays to a ring on his little finger. When he's at his lightest he still snores. Drink makes no difference. Last year he lost lots of weight and it made no odds, he was referred to specialist, turns out the type of snorer he is doesn't qualify for an operation. They made him a cast for his mouth, a guard thing which he should wear at night, but this doesn't work either. Earplugs make no difference.

Would something like this bed in a cupboard be any good?

I would be trying to sort out the snoring rather than the sleeping arrangements.

Snoring can happen for a number of reasons, including obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, tonsil trouble, sinus problems etc.

I would tackle the root of the problem and see your GP rather than moving a bed into the sitting room.
