I'm so excited - I've just booked a holiday

Three weeks in Mauritius in August staying at the Residence. In prime Ocean Front interconnecting rooms.

Childrens club to keep the DCs amused.

We've been before and I just can't wait to go back again

Luckily we have a week in Barcelona coming up at Easter to keep us going 'til August.

Lucycat - Auntyquated is right!

We had a lovely UK holiday last summer in a rented cottage which the children still talk about all the time.

The highlight for them was when we gathered driftwood on the beach and made a little fire one evening and cooked sausages stuck onto the end of twigs

Well we had a holiday to the Maldives booked up, saved for ages aswell, £3000, and obviously, not going now, so we've booked a week in a caravan near Berwick for £120!

Have a fab time Soapbox

Lucycat - I am sure your children will enjoy their holiday just as much as soapbox's children will.
ime children are just thrilled to be on 'holiday'

Sorry NomdePlume, didn't mean to sound like I was decrying your earlier comments (sadly we don't have a spare £8000 right now either) it's just that having been fortunate enough to have taken a number of two week holidays to a several Caribbean destinations with our children, and having been to Mauritius myself, I thought that Soapbox had got a good deal as she has probably had to pay adult prices for the children in order to get a separate room for them. have I made matters worse now? I didn't mean to appear arrogant earlier.

We're going to a house in Nefyn, N.Wales in June! total cost £250 for the week.

I'm sure relatively speaking that £8k is a good price for the resort, but £8k for a holiday just seems massive to me (who hasn't got £8k to spend on a holiday)

Thanks for the info Soapbox and actually under £8000 sounds like a good price to me () for two upgraded rooms for three weeks at The Residence! As a matter of interest, what board basis is that?

NdP - You don't think I can afford this every year

Its DH's 40th birthday and our wedding anniversary while we're away so felt justified in splashing out this time

Hmmm - its just I don't really like being up in the air - so the shorter the better!

I should think the mountain villa might be a bit downmarket . It sounds like you'll have a fantastic 3 weeks

NDP - yes I had to gulp too The majorcan villa sounds lovely - can you post when you've been and let me know if its worth adding to the holiday wish list??

Gobby the flights are overnight in both direction and our children have always been excellent at travelling. Based on lots of flying experience they'll have dinner, watch a film and then conk out for the rest of the time.

d'yer know - the thought of a long haul flight does not appeal one bit - but if I ever went on one it'd be to Mauritius

£8k

Hedgehog - I had to do a lot of phoning around and I couldn't believe the difference in prices.

We finally booked for just under £8,000. The highest quote was for £13,500!

We booked through this company they got a good deal for us on the upgraded rooms as there weren't any interconnecting ocean view rooms left.

The last time we went the children were 2 and 4 and we had such a superb holiday. They will be 5 and 7 this time so looking forward to doing more watersports and things with them

Ooh, lucky you Soapbox. I got married in Mauritius at the Troux aux Biches and then spent a further week at Le Saint Geran. dh and I often talk about returning with the children. May I be nosy and ask who you booked through or whether you arranged flights and accommodation yourself, separately. Did you shop around much and did the price vary considerably. Just been looking around for somewhere to go this Christmas (yes, I know, it's very expensive and I've left it quite late in terms of package deal flight availability) but any tips would be helpful. Have fleetingly considered Mauritius or maybe Thailand ... or anywhere nice and warm really.

Fab. We've booked ours too, a week in a private villa in the majorcan mountains in July. Also hoping to squeeze in a week in Barcelona in May.
