Have booked a week in Bodmin for February half term Realise that weather will probably be terrible. If you live down in the South West do you have any suggestions of places to see and things to do. Is the Eden Centre small child friendly?

Lapper valley trains near Newquay are good for a toddler.

Thanks for these tips, I'll print them off before we go. In the meantime my school has an OFSTED inspection coming up next week and half term seems like a year away!

Dobwalls is great for bigger than toddler size - but I think its only open after Easter as it very much an out-door place.

Dobwalls Adventure Park is pretty close to Bodmin and well worth a visit I believe, although haven't been myself.
Looe is quite good for activities but I'm not sure what will be open in Feb.
Hope you have a great time.

Crealy is fantastic!!! open 10-5 in Nov-Mar and only a few miles off the motorway at Exeter services. We had a good time at Trehorn farm (near Launceston) says in my book opend daily 10-6 tel 01566 863324 which again has a massive indoor area as well as the animals. And my book 'take the kids England ' by joseph Fullman says Newquay Waterworld next door to the zoo is one of the best swimming complexes with 18m water flume, waterfall, lots of slides and a toddlers pool.

Thanks for these tips, also does anyone know of nice places to eat in the area which are child friendly? No - I do not mean Rick Stein's!! More sort of country pub is more our budget!

DH and I really enjoyed Eden Project. DS only one so happy wandering/being pushed around. It gets REALLY busy but maybe not so bad in Feb as Sept when we went. Advise getting there when it opens or after lunch.

Eden is great, they can run around a lot. My on bug bear was that loads of places don't open until Easter, and when we went it did rain alot. We didn't mind, but it can be a pain.

Hi Pluto We went to Cornwall (nr Looe so same area) in Oct half term with 10, 7 and 3 yr olds, weather was terrible but we had alovely time. Eden Project was good, and I wdnt like to go in high season. Our 3 yr old enjoyed it, tho theres not a huge amount really targeted at that age group. The tractor train is fun, and he enjoyed being in the bubbles.
We went on a steam train which he didnt really see as any differnt from any other train, I dont think, as you are inside a normal carriage. There was a place called Monkey World near Looe, which was closed when we went but would have been popular. wev went to an alternative called Anumal world I think which I found a bit seedy but the kids loved, and there were lots of interesting animals. Mostly we just walked to the nearby beach and he was quite happy to play with bucket and spade whatever the weather. Hope you have a good time
