Hi
I am going to take my DD13 on a holiday shortly, I'm trying to get somewhere safe for a mum and child, hot, Europe and friendly.
I also don't need to be too specific about dates and can book a few days before to get a good deal

Anyone got any ideas or experience of last minute bookings for good deals and also good places for our needs. Budget up to £2k

I’d recommend TUI holiday villages, they have loads of high ropes courses as well as the usual pools of your teen is into that sort of thing.

Your budget is healthy OP - I wouldn’t hold out for a last minute bargain, I think these are a thing of the past…you tend to be left with the dregs. Instead, go on a website like Tui/First choice where there are no hidden costs for luggage etc and pick a date +/- 7 days, it will bring up good deals to choose from.

@loobylou10 indeed

We found it terrible and wouldn't go again if it was free.
Certainly not on a par with other cruises we've done

@TomAllenWife - you may have had a bad experience but we've done 2 previous cruises with them and had nothing but a first class experience. Horses for courses I guess.

Thanks all - I've used TUI and Jet2 also so will definitely be using one of these as it's always been simple 😎

I've just got back from a last minute holiday to Ibiza. I would highly recommend using a travel agent. I had previously always booked flights, accommodation etc independently but I cannot state how much a TA just took all the stress away. We went with Jet2 and they were amazing.

Have a great trip.

@custardbear I definitely felt safer in Cyprus than Crete 🤷🏼‍♀️ but that might just be me

Marella cruise was a massive success when my DC were teens.
Only make sure you don't have an "inside cabin" as they are like black holes, no natural light.

Please don't book Marella cruise, it was not a good experience

Travelling alone with dcs I've done for years and would recommend Italy, menorca, Majorca or Cyprus for safety & good healthcare

Not a fan of Greek islands as a woman travelling alone

Thank you @TomAllenWife - Cyprus is different then to Greece? I wondered if they went hand in hand - clearly not

Look at tui Marella cruises. We've just got a week all inclusive cruise round the med at spring bank for half price. 2 of us £1398.

Wow that's amazing but she'd struggle with the lack of space ... maybe I'll go with DH LOL 😆 tht sounds awesome!

I have a £60 off voucher for Jet2 if you decide to book. Can be used in conjunction with the £50pp off offer they have on at the moment. DM me if u want it.

I've used GP services in Cyprus, excellent. Also worth knowing for MH purposes, there is generally very good English spoken. Make sure you declare her medical history when buying travel insurance.

I was looking there actually! Random question but what's healthcare like? DD has sone MH issues so just want to be sure there's decent healthcare in hotels/on the island

Absolutely fantastic dealing with a physical injury but I dont know about MH I’m afraid!

Healthcare in Cyprus is really good. I don’t know specifically about MH provision.

Paphos in Cyprus is one of my favourite places you’d have a great time there

Second the recommendation for Jet2. There's a AI deals section, so you put in your criteria and see what comes up. For £2k you'd get somewhere really nice.

Jet2 do package holidays too. Hold luggage and airport transfers included. It’s like going back to how holidays used to be. Before Ryanair got the bright idea about charging for extras, and all the other airlines followed suit. It’s actually a pleasure travelling with Jet2. Almost stress free!
