New York -anything similar to Premier Inn/budget chain?

Thinking of a so break to NYC. I like Premier Inn for a UK city break. Is there anything similar in New York? Just want a safe base to revisit haunts from a one year au pair experience many years ago. THANKS

DH and I stayed at Citizen M (Times Sq) in New York. Great location and the staff were really friendly & helpful.

I love this chain and have stayed in their hotels in Glasgow, London, Amsterdam & Paris too.

Hi! I live here and you want the Hilton Garden Inn, the Four Points by Sheraton on the Cambria. Take a look at the ones in the Flower district around 28th.

Also, ignore that thread - the poster seems to have some properly weird expectations of NYC and also tried to visit Central Park when it was -10 outside and then didn't like it.

@ashorterday Point taken. After posting there was a post from someone there now, saying how grim/ disappointing it felt right now.
Glad for the replies but may wait a while. Cheers

When are you hoping to go? There was an article in the paper the other day about the huge number of places that have closed down due to the pandemic. It might not be the NYC you remember.

Yotel was brilliant! It's compact, cheap. A bit strange in some ways (bed turns into soda - electronic, bathroom separated by glass walls and blinds, but honestly loved it.

Worth looking into, it's so close to Times Square (walkable) and when we went, it was around the corner from a buffet style restaurant where it was fixed price for a plate or takeaway box and you fill as much as you can. Also a great Greek street vendor outside the hotel which I still dream about the food to this day.

And Holiday Inn of course although don't always find them especially cheap.

La Quinta Inn is budget, I think it may have replaced Comfort Inn but look for that too in case. Elsewhere in the US there are Super 8 motels which are very cheap (and fine in my experience) not sure if they are in NY.

Hilton has a low budget chain called Garden Inn. I just googled and they have several in New York for £89/night or thereabouts… My sons and I stayed in one in Dubai and it was great. I honestly would not go totally budget in New York. I ended up in a ‘hotel’ one time with tiny rooms where walls do not meet the ceiling or the ground so we could hear everything. More hostel than hotel and we left after one night!

A friend went to NY on a business trip recently and stayed at the Americana Inn. About £70 a night if I remember correctly. It was clearly budget but clean and staff wore masks and kept their distance
