I am being optimistic and have a holiday in southern Spain planned for next year. Flights were rearranged from this summer and I have got to arrange accommodation. I have found one with free cancellation up to the day before and another with free cancellation up to 2 weeks before which is quite a bit nicer and a little more expensive. the cheaper one is fine but more basic decorations and more rustic than the other, but both have good reviews.
In the current times would you go for the cheaper less nice one with cancellation up to the last minute, or the nicer one where is a potential 2 weeks of one of us coming down with covid or something?really struggling to decide!

thanks everyone, I kept looking and luckily I did as some lovely places were just added onto airbnb and I managed to book an even more lovely place for less than the previously nicer one, and it's free cancellation up to 5 days before so I feel pretty comfortable with that. I'll also look into that insurance, for some reason I thought travel insurance wouldnt cover covid still so I'm glad that it now does and that it's not too expensive. I just really hope the holiday happens now!

Two weeks is fine if there are general country concerns and insurance will cover you if you have covid or have been told to isolate. I have Staysure and it covers for those and wasn't expensive.

I went for the nicer one with no possibility to cancel! My insurance will cover us if we get Covid or have to self isolate. It doesn’t however cover for lockdowns so that will be a bit nervy

Less nice, last minute cancellation. Things are still too uncertain in my head at the moment
