USA trip booked for July 2021, flights, hotel and car. Have just seen the refund to my credit card of the deposit paid. No email, no call, no contact at all. I guess BA know something we don’t, I was still hopeful ! Has this happened to anyone else?

We were going to Nashville too. In April, flight out there was cancelled in December but only found out as my friend just happened to look at the booking . There was 3 couples going, booked separately and none of us got a cancellation email and had to ring up for a refund.

Ah okay, that makes more sense. A lot of airlines are cancelling routes or reducing their timetables in anticipation of reduced demand for months to come. I'm no longer bullish about being able to go to the US this summer - and we're US citizens!

Hi I did get a text and opted for a call back because I wanted to check the impact on my hotel/car if I chose a revised flight. I never did get call the call back, or an email or a further text - just the refund! Will check out the forum though - thank you.

They have stooped Nashville on some days and removed 1st. You may have been unlucky and had outbound and return on canceled days. Mien was 1 way and a cabin downgrade.

They sent an email on 8th December with options. I am holding mine and waiting to make a decision

Flyertalk BA Forum is the best site for advice

If you call they will rebook it for you.

It’s impossible to get through, I’ve given up trying! I think many people are seeking refunds from them and their call centres are so busy. Not sure what I would do even if I could get an answer! I will make a decision about rebooking nearer the time. Just thought they might have had the courtesy to contact me given we had a contract !! I am much better off than some, at least i have my deposit back.

Have you called them and asked them why they cancelled so early?

Oh wow - July you say? We have flights booked to the US with them in August - makes me wonder if those will be cancelled now too.

Agreed! I am lucky in that sense. Just thought BA might have had some comm’s with me to advise. Seemed a long way off to be cancelling but now everything close to normality feels a long way off. First world problem I know.

Thank your lucky stars you got a refund so fast.

Don’t think anyone will be travelling this year. 😩

They are cancelling flights months ahead at they get fined more if they do it closer to the time. Guessing demand is very low so not worth running the flights you were booked on.
