Hi all. Just applying for my DD's first passport, she's 3 months and will be 4.5 when we travel. Will this photo be accepted? Obviously minus the facial scribble Wink just not sure if he arms need to be down or if they're okay?!

DDs first passport, 8years ago when it was still actual photos not digital files you sent, you can sort of see my hand supporting the head. She was only a few weeks old.

(I think baby passport photos are sort of ridiculous... By the time the passport arrives they look different. The only recognisable feature my DD had was a birth mark)

I would take one that is closer - that is way more than "whole head and shoulder area". As a PP said, you might need to smooth the blanket out more. I'm not sure how fussy they are.

That said, if it isn't urgent I would probably send it and see if it gets through.

I've just renewed my sons online this morning! They kept telling me the photo was poor and I had to retake until I got it right!

But yes they will crop it for you. We actually got a preview of the cropped version afterwards.

I don’t think the background will be accepted as it’s a fluffy sheet. It has to be quite a crisp flat background

@TheOrville oops - didn't even spot those! We'll try again after her nap haha - thank you for spotting!

@TheOrville it says on the gov website that they crop it for you so just send one over that has the whole head and shoulder area - I assume so people don't crop too much. That said, I assume the arms should be cropped out by them then?

Looks like they will crop it for you.

I’d worry more about the wrinkles in the sheet than her arms

I thought it was just a facial shot, even for babies. My daughter was 3 days old and asleep for her photo.
