Oslo - anyone been?

Ive booked to go for a couple of days with my teenager. Interested in any must dos, things to see and good places to eat. I am already wincing at the wine prices

I am in Oslo now. It is massively expensive. I paid £10 for a glass of wine yesterday. Definitely pack snacks and water bottles. We have visited several museums, the sculpture park and opera house which have been lovely. The public transport here is excellent so I recommend buying either a travel pass or the Oslo pass. There is a free walking tour from the central station every morning too but my children are too young for that.

The Norwegian Resistance Museum in the Akershus fortress is well worth a visit. Fascinating.
The Fram, Viking Ship and Kontiki Museums are also fantastic.

The Munch Museum is worth a visit too.

I am making notes to take wine and snacks! And my water bottles. We have breakfast included in hotel rate so I was rather planning that we filled up a lot in the morning, found McD's or coffee and cake or something and only had a proper dinner. Will investigate the free walking tours.

It's a lovely city. Best museums I've ever been to. Make use of your duty-free wine allowance. Recommend packing UK snacks. The prices are insane. When I was there it was about £4 for a small Bounty bar.

Nobel Peace Museum is well worth a visit, even with teens I would think. See the sculptures in Frogner Park. Do a free walking tour - it will let you see places you might want to return to and explore more. Aker Brygge is a cool area, lots of places to eat etc, we had the best burgers ever there (and not too pricey for Oslo!)
Miss Sophie restaurant was great if you want a nice meal out.

Eye-wateringly expensive food and drink though!!

The tap water is amazing - take your water bottles. I'd also take snacks.

Yes, but VERY. expensive by UK standards. But if not on a budget it's a great place to visit..

Hi, I did Oslo with teens - we got an Oslo pass, got the ferry over to the museums then did the Viking Ship museum, Norwegian Museum of Cultural History (collection of buildings from all over Norway), Fram Museum and went back on the ferry to see The Scream in the art gallery. Busy day but really enjoyable.

The other day we got the team to the highly instagramable Sculpture Park.

You can walk into the city hall, it's impressive.

Teens also liked walking to the roof of the opera house, swimming (was weirdly warm when we were there) and the waterfront.
