Do you go to same place frequently

Just booked to go to Dalyan in turkey in next few weeks
It will be my 4th visit but only 2nd with DP
I feel it’s a bit boring to keep going back to same places
On other hand am very stressed at moment and just wanted to go somewhere stress free where I know what to expect, no planning needed - hopefully just relax

We've only ever been to one destination more than once, Maldives as it's just amazing but other than that we like to travel to different places. We don't have to factor children in though.

yes, we do because:

• so much less stress to book
  
• you can relax instantly as you know your way around
  
• you know the nice eating places and places of interest etc
  
• DD2 particularly enjoys familiar places
  

We do throw in random other places too, but have 2 destinations we keep returning to.

We generally go to different places each year so can see somewhere new. DS is ASD so prefers as much the same as possible but can get him to adapt as long as he convinces himself its the same.

This year we went to a B&B in Sweden with 50 alpacas, next summer going to Borneo and I was booking a place in the rainforest. DS loves animals so is super keen but said the hotel will be identical to the Swedish alpaca place won't it, please book an identical one. Explained it will be 32C not 20C, there won't be alpacas or a farm but there will be animals and rainforest with boat trips, it won't be B&B but full board, it won't be in Sweden but Borneo, it won't be an apartment but a hotel room. Then he said apart from that is it identical and I said yes, he said that's fine then book it. He would like to same place every year though as soon as we arrive anywhere he loves it.

We return to same place. Same hotel same hotel room every year. DS needs the familiarity and routine. Id like to explore other places but I never thought we would get to the point where we could enjoy a family holiday abroad so I'm happy to keep on returning.

@Ragwort Kas is a lovely town with a very relaxed vibe.Lots of bars and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by.
'Big pebble beach' is a great beach just outside of town.There are free loungers there, you just need to order drinks etc.I'd recommend going to Patara beach which is closer to Kalkan.The water is very warm there.Also take a boat trip that includes the sunken city of Kekova.You can also take a trip to the Greek island of Kastellerizo(sp) or Meis.Have a fantastic holiday :)))

Rua I am off to Kas in a couple of weeks, can't wait. What is it like, any recommendations? I particularly like boat trips and sea swimming.

We've been to Kalkan theee times so trying somewhere new (albeit just down the coast ) this year.

I quite enjoy the familiarity of going back to places you've enjoyed before, but I am lucky in that I've had lots of holidays and travelled quite a bit over the years. These days I am just going for sunshine and relaxation.

We've been to the same ski resort three years in a row. It was relaxing in the sense that we could trust the ski school with the children. DH goes there for several weeks for work, so knows the slopes well so can plan out good routes for the children.

Generally no, because the world is huge and I want to explore places I haven't been, but I can understand why you might fall back on a safe choice if you just want to relax and not risk any surprises!

When I was younger and working we used to go to Playa Blanca, Lanzarote for a week every year usually just before or after Xmas because it was dirt cheap, relaxing and the weather could be great. We used to try other places for our main holiday.

On the whole no. My list is too big and holiday budget too small. The only one we have returned to is the Yorkshire coast, we've been there four times with our kids at various ages and I agree there is something really special about the ease and familiarity.

Not generally. There are places which I enjoy visiting and have done so numerous times, eg Munich, Amsterdam, Barcelona, but for my main holiday we like to discover interesting new places. Our last holiday was in the Basque Country and the next one will be in Sicily. Can’t wait

I go to Kefelonia every year for a week .
It's my total relaxation week.
I read ,swim,explore and just love the place.
I only go back because I'm lucky it's not my only holiday.

If you absolutely love somewhere, I don't see an issue. However I won't return to somewhere, because we go abroad once a year and I want to try somewhere different each time!

I have been to many places and do like to see new places but we also return to Bodrum in Turkey all the time.

We have now bought a house out there although we will still visit other places too. I love the idea of going back to somewhere that is my second home.

I go to one place over and over again, because I love it and hope maybe to move there one day. I do try to go to other places in between though!

No we don’t - although we go back to Italy & Devon often but tend to go to different areas. There’s just always seems too many places on our wish list to see to go back somewhere, however nice. But in your current situation, somewhere you know may be the easiest option? Somewhere new can always wait till next year after all.

I find as I get older I visit countries I know but try to visit a new place within the country Iyswim.Why not visit Fethiye for a night or two?we are currently in Kas which is gorgeous but about a two hour trip from Dalyan.Kalkan is also lovely.

Also visit new places, but there's nothing wrong with returning to a place because you love it!

We do t usually as I like to explore new places, but we have gone back to the same place 3 times due to the same reasons you have! It was lovely and stress free. Still enjoyed our holiday and had new experiences in familiar places as we needed that! You do what you want and what suits you. You can go somewhere new next year!

Oh god no. That is one of the reason I would never buy a holiday home.

I know people who do it/have done it but for me it would be absolute boring. Holidays are for exploring new areas.

If I need a relaxing break I would still go somewhere new but minimise the exploring.
