We love Corsica -particularly Porto Vecchio region, but usually go to a villa with friends. This year they've backed out (something we said?) and we're looking for somewhere where there will be other english speaking kids for our children (Aged almost 3 and 5) to play with - ideally with a pool and nearish a beach (don't ask much do we?)
We've done cappiciolo and found the accomm a bit basic and didn't like lack of pool but are at a loss as to what else to try. Anyone found a gem they don't mind sharing. We'd be going around July 10th so may well already be booked but just want to try. All suggestions welcome.

Me too Codswallop - SANS ENFANTS. (Our honeymoon actually )
Carriel, forgot that there is also Maisons Bervily. But not sure about "family-friendly" hotels in and around town - there are some fab ones, sure.

We have just come back from a week with mark warner. Their complex is sited just outside Moriani Plage about an hour south of Bastia which makes for a half hour transfer and about an hour and 1/4 north of porto vecchio. The siting of the resort itself isnt in a particularly pretty coastal region of Corsica but there are lots of mountain villages and the north beyond Bastia (1/2 hour away) I believe becomes much prettier again. You may have already considered and rejected this idea but its absolutely brilliant for kids, with creche/activities, two pools, by a beach(though not great beach) and loads of sporty things (if that's what you're in to). We only hired a car for a day and drove down to Porto Vechio and Bonifacio. I want to go back already. It really is easy at Mark Warner. Everything is laid on for you and I think your kids at that age will really be able to join in and have fun with their children club. The only prob being that the prices of course do go up quite considerably in July August. Might be worth a look.

Carriel, if you want to try somewhere new, Calvi is lovely and Corsican Places have a good selection of houses and villas in and around the town. They have two small villa complexes in the area, Villas Benisty and Residence du Rateau Bavoir. Both have shared pools IIRC. Have not stayed in them myself but have eyed them up as possibilities in the future...have not linked to Cp's website as the blighters don't show individual properties! Otherwise they are a great operator.

Hi

Corsica is beautiful - I'm envious!

DP and I went to Corsica in 2000 (pre children) and stayed in a lovely hotel called Roc E Fiori which is in Porto Vecchio. There is a pool and it was, as I recall, fairly close to the beach. I typed in Roc E Fiore on Google and got a number of hits which link to the hotel. The hotel was very pretty - we went fairly early on in the season so it wasn't too busy. I think we booked with Simply Corsica.

Hope you find something anyway. Good luck!
