Tried the archive search and I must be doing something wrong! Going to centerparcs Longleat in July and want to look up some tips - where do I start?

TIA

Went to Longleat last May and stayed in the four-bed exec (with hot tub). My inlaws and husband loved the hot tub and sauna and steam room, but the accommodation was quite basic and the communal area wasn't huge, though each bedroom was ensuite (I think?!).

I found the place a bit hilly and they have an expansion/renovation programme going on so it was a bit noisy near our accommodation (check this in advance!), but we had a few meals out (Indian, bistro-y place and grand cafe - all v good and we have pretty high standards), used the creche twice, used a babysitter twice (she even did some washing up while we were out - highly recommend this but book early!). Spa was pretty good, but needed a bit of a makeover, which is maybe why it's closed soon. It was an OK holiday but pretty expensive in the end when you add everything up.

for those doing longleat - you must incorporate longleat safari park too - it's well worth a trip.

when searching - try different spellings for center parcs.

Lucky MumtoEla.Grin

We love to have grown-up meals in the Grand Cafe on the village square. The food there is gorgeous and they sometimes have live music. Our kids have always been made very welcome there but it's more of a adult venue really. Now we just chuck out two (9 and 7) out into the big adventure playground and shout when their meal arrives.

Lots of people like the American restaurant in the main Tropical dome things, Huckleberries I think. It too has a little play frame thing that would be OK for a 4yo I think. Standard tex-mex grub but you could easily make nicer yourself and just go out for Pudding. We tend to cook at home and eat pud out except for one big special meal but that's only because I have had huge remorse in previous years at getting my creditcrad bill a month later and not remembering any of the £80 meals at all.

My kids like the archery but at the age of 4 they really just prefered mucking about in the parks to be honest. I've never used the childcare but it looks extremely well organised. If you are going to book any activities then try to do it in advance. The queues to book stuff can be horrendous.

The sports cafe looks extremely child friendly with a cosy book corner and lots of kids stuff. You are going to have a great time! How long are you going for? We are going for the weekend of the 7th to incorporate my birthday.

ooh thanks, quick replies

Where is good to eat?

Which activities are worth paying for - ave nearly 4 year old dd and 10 weeks old ds.

Anywhere good for a night out, meal etc with dh while grandparents do the childcare bit?

Unfortunatley the spa is closed that week :-( but should be very good otherwise. When are you going?
