Day trip to Santa

We are planning a day trip to Lapland this year as we think our 7 year old will soon be a non-believer!!! We've decided to leave the one year old at home so will be able to do lots of activities with our two boys, aged 7 and 5. Can any one advise on the best trip to do as I've a pile of brochures but the trips all sound alike? It's such a mad amount of money I really want to make the right decision. Thanks!

I think we have paid circa £2000 for the three of us at the beginning of Dec. They have a website www.santadays.co.uk. There are various discounts available depending on what you do, and if you want to change anything the staff are really helpful.

what sort of cost is it for the 3/4 day trip?

I'd agree, Canterbury travel are really worth the money. The attention to detail with the elves, the lanterns to light the way, the fact that the coaches were never in the same place at the same time. And as Sis said you never had to queue. Food was plentiful.
The magic of going to the ice chapel for a service by candle light on Christmas day morning was something to be treasured.
As I said on the other thread we would go back in a flash.

Roberta, Canterbury travel did a seriously good trip when we went last year - my sister went with another company for a few pounds less and I am convinced that the benefits we got were more than worth the extra cost. eg they had to queue to have a go on the sledge, skidoo, reindeer ride and could only each activity once whereas we could on as many activities (apart from seeing Santa!) as many times as we and ds liked also, the lunch we got was a lot better (fairly basic but we were free to eat whenever we liked at the all you can eat buffet with plenty of chips, salad and pasta as well as hot chocolate etc).

We are going with Colchester Travel this year as well. I trawled through brochures, the Internet etc and felt that they offered the best selection. We are going for 3 days as the cost is not that much different to the day trip. My DD is 8 so I think this may be the last year she believes so we wanted to make it special. Hope you find something.

We went with Canterbury Travel last year: www.santa-holidays.com. The day was absolutely fantastic.

There is another thread about Lapland I've put a full post on that one.

For those looking for a cheaper alternative, highly recommend Paultons Park, my then wavering in belief DD was totally won over. With no introductions he new DS & DD's names, had a real beard, decent outfit & pressies were fab (& age related). The animated wonderland (queueing) area was also great fun, and you get to go on all the rides in the park!

We did a Cosmos 4 day trip - we decided it wasn't that much more than the day trip and the kids would be less tired. We loved it. May be worth looking at a couple of days as it's a very long day otherwise and the difference in price might not be as much as you think. Incidentally we want to do it again now we have another daughter and would do it independently this time. We flew to Oulu and stayed at Levi - think the room charge per night was about 75 per night for a family room. Lots on hand to book. Look at Finnair or SAS for flights
