Mabs, one thing to be aware of is that the beach within the resort is not that great - small and not very child friendly - so be prepared to drive somewhere if your kids are into beaches.
We drove in the 'La Manga strip' as it is called and thought it seemed very tatty and overdeveloped but our children are not good travellers so we were reluctant to drive far. Maybe we missed the best places?

Within the resort there are plenty of child friendly places to eat and the accommodation is very attractive. Will you have access to a pool? Our villa (in the area called Las Brisas)had a pool shared between 5 or 6 villas and it was never busy. My main complaint was a lack of playgrounds. We only found one in the whole complex - so if you dont use the kids clubs you may run out of places to go...

Its a good choice if you want access to golf tennis etc but personally we enjoyed the Forte village Sardinia a lot more and would be happy to go again - La Manga I wouldn't go again personally - but have spoken to friends who loved it. (we were there in 2001 with a 2 and 4 year old)

hi mabs
been there, great for kids, kiddies club is well organised (lots of different activities) and supervised, however you may have to pay for it, not sure.
but it seems a safe environment even though its quite big and i think there is a babysitting service. i was there last year while pregnant checking these things out for future visits!
