Changing mind about Uni!

I have been accepted into a course at a local university, applied for student finance etc, although this hasn't been confirmed yet.
However, my circumstances have now changed and I am going to find it very difficult to manage childcare, husband has been given new duties at work and Covid is messing up our organised childcare arrangements.
What the hell do I do? My course is due to start in two weeks and I'm already panicking about childcare.
Can I defer? Or come off the course?

You can say you don’t want to go, and cancel your student finance. There should be a way to withdraw, or information about how to on your student portal. You’ll cancel student finance directly, with them.

If you want to defer you’ll have to ask for permission and should be aware they can refuse. If you get permission you just inform student finance that you’re starting next year instead.

I’d suggest trying to defer first, and then worst case you can withdraw.

But, most unis have online teaching for first semester at least - have you had into on how you’ll be taught? Learning from home is much more flexible, so might be more doable than you’d anticipated.

You can withdraw. Lots of students do - it’s not a problem. You need to contact the university and student finance. If you want to defer you need to contact the university, who may or may not allow you to defer.

Hope you get things sorted out ok.
