Mature student, finished first year of a sociology and psychology degree. When i first started the intention was to do it for my own interest and continue with voluntary work with Young Offenders. Circumstances have changed and i need to go back to work after degree, dont want to return to corporate world and would prefer to do something connected to my voluntary work. Applied to change to Social Work at University but said although i will have covered some modules i would have to start at year one and then didnt respond when i asked if i was too late for September intake. Contacted the college in the same town and they were very positive when i told them background/first years grades and say i may be able to start year two. The university hasnt been great, lack of support and careers advice awful. I know a uni is more prestigious but if i get a good grade will it really matter in this field? WWYD?
