My neighbours have this huge tree, but I’m sure I’ve seen it as a bush. Flowering now, beautiful scent. What is it? I’d like it for my garden if I can get it as a bush

Philadelphus, probably virginal looking at the size.
Maybe try the variety Philadelphus"Belle etiole" much smaller with the same great scent and an attractive purple blotch at the base of each flower.

Yes, mock orange, Philadelphus. There are low growing varieties, I have one which is over 30 years old and is not even waist high.

I prefer Philadelphus Aureus because you get golden foliage with the scented flowers.

Philadelphus/mock orange. It’s available as a bush & a tree. A small bush is inexpensive (I bought one for about £6 from Morrisons/Homebase etc earlier this year)
